    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide a decoding apparatus and method. The method includes: obtaining a to-be-decoded group; detecting whether all code words in the to-be-decoded group meet that a checksum is 0; performing a sign bit decision on the to-be-decoded group when all the code words in the to-be-decoded group meet that a checksum is 0; detecting, when all the code words in the to-be-decoded group do not meet that a checksum is 0, whether the sign bit decision has been performed on each code word in the to-be-decoded group; performing, when there is at least one code word on which the sign bit decision has been performed in the to-be-decoded group, data restoration on each code word on which the sign bit decision has been performed; and constructing a new to-be-decoded group by using each code word obtained after the data restoration and each code word on which the sign bit decision has not been performed, to perform FEC decoding. When all the code words in the to-be-decoded group meet that a checksum is 0, FEC decoding is not performed, and only the sign bit decision is performed. That is, in a process of performing multiple times of decoding on each code word, FEC decoding is not always performed every time. This reduces power consumption required by FEC decoding.

    摘要: A receiver circuit for extracting data (DAT) from a serial data signal (SDI) is described. The serial data signal (SDI) contains a data packet having a first or a second data packet format based on a selection signal (AS), wherein the first data packet format has a first number of bits (PRE, P1, DAT, P2, A1, P3, A2) and the second data packet format (PRE, P1, DAT, P2, A1, P3, A2, P4, A3) has a second number of bits, wherein the second data packet format comprises the bits of the first data packet format (PRE, P1, DAT, P2, A1, P3, A2) followed by one or more additional bits (P4, A3).
    The receiver circuit comprises one or more shift registers (REG) having a total number of bits being equal or greater than the number of bits of the second data packet format. The receiver circuit comprises also a switching circuit (200) configured to selectively connect the serial data signal (SDI) to one of the serial inputs of the one or more shift registers (REG) as a function of the selection signal (AS). In particular, when the first data packet format has been selected and once having received the respective bits, the bits of the first data packet format are stored in given positions of the one or more shift registers (REG). The switching circuit (200) ensures moreover that, when the second data packet format has been selected and once having received the respective bits, the bits of the first data packet format included at the beginning of the second data packet format are stored in the same given positions of the one or more shift registers (REG).

    摘要: Techniques to increase the capacity of a W-CDMA wireless communications system. In an exemplary embodiment, early termination of one or more transport channels on a W-CDMA wireless communications link is provided. In particular, early decoding is performed on slots as they are received over the air, and techniques are described for signaling acknowledgment messages (ACK's) for one or more transport channels correctly decoded to terminate the transmission of those transport channels. The techniques may be applied to the transmission of voice signals using the adaptive multi-rate (AMR) codec. Further exemplary embodiments describe aspects to reduce the transmission power and rate of power control commands sent over the air, as well as aspects for applying tail-biting convolutional codes in the system.
