The invention relates to a multi-layer flat steel product (1) consisting of a plurality of steel alloy layers (2, 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) connected to one another, wherein in at least one of the steel alloy layers (2, 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) a steel of a first steel alloy is provided and in at least one other of the steel alloy layers (2, 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) a steel of a second steel alloy, which is different from the first steel alloy, is provided, wherein the steel of the first steel alloy is a steel of high strength and the steel of the second steel alloy is a steel of lower strength and contains a lower proportion of carbon. In order to allow functionally optimized modelling of local material properties in all directions, the invention proposes that at least within one layer (plane of the metal sheet) at least one steel of the first steel alloy and at least one steel of the second steel alloy are provided. The invention also relates to a component (5), in particular for a vehicle body, consisting of a corresponding flat steel product (1).

The pressure rollers (3, 4) are positively driven by corresponding electric motors (63, 64) to thereby roll the joint portion. Thus, steps defined at the joint portion can be smoothed and a step gradient can be reduced to ensure a high degree of joint strength. The respective tilting directions of the axes (15, 16) of the pressure rollers (3, 4) are such that respective travel-directional portions (3A, 4A) of the pair of pressure rollers (3, 4) face in the horizontal plane toward the corresponding directions opposite to the extending directions of metal plates (5, 6) concerning a metal material with which the pressure rollers (3, 4) first come into contact. Thus, it is possible to prevent a step portion from being interfolded into the base material of the metal plates (5, 6). Thus, a stress concentration factor can be reduced and the steps S defined at the joint portion can be smoothed, thereby enhancing the quality of the joint portion.

The aluminum clad member is produced by: disposing a joining assistance member at a joint interface between an Al core member and an Al skin member, which joining assistance member being formed by crossing Al wires with each other in longitudinal and lateral directions to form a grid, and having a structure in which spot-like thick portions having a thickness of 0.2-3.2mm are formed at intersections of the Al wires and arranged in the longitudinal and lateral directions so as to be spaced apart from each other by a distance of 0.2-13mm; and performing a hot rolling operation with respect to the thus formed stack of the Al core member, the Al skin member and the joining assistance member, by partially fixing together those members at their peripheral portions or without fixing together those members, such that the joint interfaces is communicated with an ambient air.

The invention further relates to a roll-clad aluminium workpiece (7) comprising a core (8) made of an aluminium alloy and comprising at least one cladding layer (10) made of a cladding material on one side of the aluminium workpiece (7), the cladding layer (10) extending along only one portion of the side of the aluminium workpiece (7), and the portion accounting for at most 95% of the entire surface of the side.
