The tack-free humectant contains a-glycosyl glycyrrhizin as an active ingredient. It is satisfactory in applicability and cosmetic finishing, imparts softness and tension to the skin, and has satisfactory humectant properties.

It is intended to establish a method of inhibiting the formation of volatile aldehydes and/or the decomposition of fatty acids and use thereof. This object can be achieved by establishing a method which comprises adding an α-oligoglycosyl α,α-trehalose to a subject to thereby inhibit the formation of volatile aldehydes per se and/or the decomposition of fatty acids per se in a fatty acid-containing material, an inhibitor for the formation of volatile aldehydes and/or the decomposition of fatty acids which contains an α-oligoglycosyl α,α-trehalose as the active ingredient, and use thereof to thereby obtain various compositions such as foods, drinks, cosmetics, drugs, starting materials thereof and intermediate processed products thereof each having excellent qualities and high stability.
