    摘要: Method and apparatus are disclosed for reproducing digitized voicemail (verbal) message signals destined for a recipient at various different text reproducing devices (18,20,22). Upon accessing a mailbox (12) storing a voicemail message and providing a predetermined feature access code, the recipient is able to have a digitized voicemail message signal converted into an ASCII text signal and reproduced at an electronic display device (18), a printing device (20), and/or a facsimile device (22). The voicemail apparatus (10) includes a voicemail messaging system (12) for receiving and storing voicemail messages received from a public/private voice network (24), a voice-to-text processing system (14), a file server (16), and a variety of different text reproducing devices. The voice-to-text processing system (14) converts a voicemail message from a digitized voice message signal into an ASCII text message signal which is stored in the file server (16). The file server distributes each stored text message signal to the proper text reproducing device in response to a user of the voicemail apparatus entering a predetermined feature access code associated with that text reproducing device either to the voice messaging system or the file server. The apparatus can also be arranged to automatically reproduce each voicemail message for a predetermined recipient at a predetermined one of the text reproducing devices.

    摘要: A lighted keyboard system which transmits light to the viewer via a clear rectangular column (400) that uses the function key's (500) guiding mechanism (300) for support. The lightpipe emits light in a uniformly brilliant rectangle of light from a height above the surface of the keyboard. The lightpipe gathers light from an external light source (608) which emits light at a wide viewing angle, and directs the emitted light along the center of the lightpipe to the emitting section. The beam of light is then diffused by the emitting section located at the top of the lightpipe, becoming a uniformly brilliant rectangle. The function key has a wide base which is used to guide the function key as it travels. This wide base never extends above the surface of the keyboard thereby maintaining all contacting surfaces between the guiding features and the function key below the surface of the keyboard. The function key has a key push center which is offset from the base of the function key. The associated guiding mechanism works in conjunction with the wide base to eliminate the moments produced when the function key is pressed at a point which is not over the base of the function key. The function key then moves smoothly until it is stopped by a stopping arm located on its associated lightpipe.

    摘要: Method and apparatus are disclosed for initiating multiple call transfers from a Voice Mail System ("VMS") (20) to telephone extensions on a Private Branch Exchange ("PBX") (12) integrated with the VMS (20). A plurality of first lines (16) between the PBX (12) and the VMS (20) provide voice communication between callers and the VMS via the PBX. The VMS includes an applications processor (24) which is integrated (coupled) to the PBX via an integration link (14). The applications processor (24) determines if at least one of a plurality of second lines in a hunt group (22) are free, and transmits a command to the PBX to effect a call transfer to an extension on the PBX if at least one second line is found free. If no second line is found free, the applications processor places the transfer request in a queue. The plurality of second lines in the hunt group are searched in response to the PBX receiving the special command over the integration link (14) to find a free second line. This second line is used to connect the applications processor to the PBX to complete the call transfer to a particular extension. Once a caller requesting a transfer is connected to the desired extension, the second line is released for use on another call transfer request or a queued transfer request. Concurrently, other call transfers at different stages of transfer are capable of being handled via other ones of the second lines.

    摘要: Method for time-scale modification ("TSM") of a signal, for example, a voice signal, wherein starting positions of blocks in an input signal, referred to as analysis windows, are varied and an output signal is reconstructed by overlapping analysis windows using fixed window offsets, i.e., the duration of overlap between analysis windows is fixed during reconstruction. This is done by searching for segments of the input signal which are similar to the previous portion of the output signal. In one embodiment of the present invention a cross-correlation is used as a similarity measure to evaluate such similarity and the cross-correlation uses a fixed, predetermined minimum number of samples. The starting position of the analysis window which results in the greatest similarity in overlapping regions is determined as the starting position which provides the largest value of cross-correlation in the overlapping regions. Several cross-correlations are evaluated by shifting the analysis window over a predetermined number of samples, removing the first shifted samples in the evaluation each time, and using the same, predetermined number of samples in the evaluation to determine the "best" starting position for an analysis window. Finally, the predetermined number of samples from the beginning of the analysis window are averaged with the predetermined number of samples from the end of the previous portion of the output signal and the remaining samples in the window are appended to the averaged segment of the previous portion of the output signal.
