摘要: This invention concerns a light weight sheet felt material suitable for use as roof and siding underlayment and insulation board facing which comprises on a dry basis: (a) 60-80 wt.% cellulose fibers; (b) 15-30 wt.% glass fibers having a diameter of 5 to 16 microns and a length of 3/8-3/4 inch; (c) 4-10 wt.% binder and (d) 0.5-10 wt.% non-asphaltic, sizing agent having a flash point above 150 DEG F and an evaporation rate less than 1, which is selected from the group consisting of anionic rosinous and amphipathic ester and anhydride sizes and mixtures thereof. The felt of this invention is of considerably lighter weight and higher porosity than other felting materials used for the same purpose and can be supplied in longer continuous sheet rolls than heretofore practical from a standpoint of handling, shipping, storage, and installation. Also the present sheet felt can be produced on conventional felt making equipment in a one step process.

摘要: A laminated composite roofing hip comprising a flexible, foldable panel (2) having a central fold line (3) along its horizontal length, a leading vertical edge and a rear vertical edge (5), a riser strip (4) positioned over said panel having a leading vertical edge, a rear vertical edge (5') conterminous with the rear vertical edge (5) of said panel, a central fold line (3') mateable with said panel central fold line (3), a longitudinal dimension between about 1/7th and about 2/3rds the length of said panel and a height approximately equal to that of said panel, said riser strip (4) being laminated to said panel (2) in a restricted 0.5 to 3 inch vertical area along the length of the riser strip (4) so as to allow free vertical displacement of the non-laminated riser strip portions over the surface of the underlying panel. The invention also relates to the process of installing said composite roofing hip at an edge, a ridge, or a valley of pitched roof and a roof finished with the laminated roofing hips of the present invention.

摘要: Tile roof vent (10) for covering the opening of the ridge of an undulating tile roof (14, 14'). The vent includes two panels spaced from each other, each of which has a hard plastic sheet (32) with a lower portion and an upper portion. To the underside of the lower portions are affixed an air-permeable mat (28) and optionally a layer of foam rubber (30) which conform to the undulating configuration of the tile roof. The lower portions of the hard plastic sheets are reinforced by stiffeners (34) integral with the hard plastic sheet and also contain vent holes (36) for exhausting air from the attic space.

摘要: A solar roofing assembly is provided including a roofing membrane, a plurality of insulation blocks disposed as a layer on top of the roofing membrane, a plurality of pavers disposed as a layer on top of the plurality of insulation blocks, and a plurality of photovoltaic cells, each supported on a respective paver. In a second embodiment, each paver has a respective photovoltaic cell bonded to the top surface of the paver and has a respective insulation block bonded to the bottom surface of the paver forming a shop assembled, three-layer unit. The insulation block is also tapered with one side edge being thicker than an opposite side edge so that rain water will run off the top surface of the photovoltaic cell. The three-layer paver units are arranged on top of the roofing membrane, so that the top surfaces of the photovoltaic cells face south or in the direction of increased sun exposure. The insulation blocks have interlocking side surfaces. The joints between the pavers and the insulation blocks permit drainage therethrough of rain water for flow of rain water over the top of the roofing membrane. A method of manufacture is provided, wherein three-layer units of insulation block, paver and photovoltaic cell are made in the shop, and wherein the three-layer units are installed in the field over a field-installed roofing membrane.

摘要: Lighter weight, high strength, built-up roofing (BUR) membranes, systems and process for obtaining same. These BUR membranes are made by using an improved ply sheet having uniform ventability and attachment in the overall assembly and superior resistance to wind uplift. The improved structure involves a ply sheet (2) carrying 1/8 inch diameter or larger perforations (3) along its longitudinal border in an area comprising between 1/5 and about 1/2 the width of the ply sheet. The ply sheets here employed for the BUR assembly or membrane have a thickness essentially not in excess of the layer of bonding agent (5) applied over each ply in the assembly.
