Abstract:
There is provided an article (9) comprising at least two stackable containers (1), each stackable container (1) capable of holding an ophthalmic device (8), each stackable container (1) comprising a container portion (2) for receiving an ophthalmic device (8); a first section (4) having engagement means (6); a second section (5) having engagement means; wherein the fist section (4) of one of the stackable containers (1) is capable of operably engaging the second section (5) of the other stackable container (1) so that the stackable containers (1) may be releasably joined by means of their respective first (4) and second (5) sections.
Abstract:
There is provided a process for the preparation of a polymerisable composition comprising a cross-linker and a polymerisable monomer of formula (I) comprising the steps of: (i) contacting a compound of formula (II) with an immobilised acid, wherein X, Y, Z, R1, P and Q are independently selected from a hydrocarbyl group or hydrogen and wherein A is (CH¿2?)n wherein n is 0 or 1; (ii) neutralising the product of step (i) such that the cross-linker is formed.
Abstract:
A process for preparing a soft, tinted lens is described. The process comprises the steps of softening and tinting a xerogel lens (1), wherein the softening and the tinting are achieved by immersing the xerogel lens (1) in a single solution (5) capable of softening and tinting the xerogel lens (1).
Abstract:
A water swellable crosslinked polymer of essentially balanced charge is obtained by polymerizing a polymer-forming composition comprising a cationic-anionic pair of ethylenically unsaturated monomers and a non-ionic ethylenically unsaturated hydrophillic and/or hydrophobic monomer. Contact lenses formed from the polymer exhibit little if any tendency to attract soils, eg proteinaceous debris, to their surfaces.

Abstract:
A hydration device (10) and kit are provided for effecting the hydration of a dehydrated soft contact lens (21) resident within the cavity of a mold element (22) in which the lens was formed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of spin casting an opthalmic device the method comprising: i) polymerising one or more monomers in a spin casting mould to form the opthalmic device; and ii) sealing the opthalmic device in the spin casting mould to provide a package.
