摘要: The invention relates to a method to prevent dehiscence in a plant or to alter plant lignification comprising providing said plant with a nucleotide protein coding for a GGL protein or a functional equivalent thereof, and growing said plant. The invention also relates to the isolated GGL protein or functional equivalents, a nucleic acid encoding said protein and vectors, host cells and plants comprising said nucleic acid.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for providing plants and/or plant parts with an identification label, comprising contacting the plant or plant part with a product, comprising one or more types of tracer molecules, preferably fluorescent tracer molecules, and allowing the plant or plant part to take up the tracer molecules either inside the plant or plant parts or on the surface thereof. The invention further relates to products for use in the method and plant and plant parts treated with the method and to methods for identifying plants or plant parts carrying an identification label.

摘要: The invention relates to a DNA oligonucleotide which is specific for Meloidogyne species, which DNA oligonucleotide has the following sequence: (a) a DNA sequence chosen from the group consisting of SEQ ID No. 1 to SEQ ID No. 20, or (b) a DNA sequence which under conditions of stringency hybridises with a sequence according to (a) and which is specific for Meloidogyne species. Furthermore, the invention relates to a DNA vector containing such a DNA oligonucleotide, as well as to a host cell containing such vector. The invention also relates to a process for determining the presence of a Meloidogyne species, according to which DNA is isolated from a sample to be analysed, and is subsequently subjected to a PCR reaction, using a DNA oligonucleotide according to the invention. Finally, the invention relates to a kit for determining the presence of a Meloidogyne species.

摘要: The invention is related to a method and an apparatus for sorting seeds for the assessment of the maturity and quality of seeds by measuring the amount of chlorophyll fluorescence. The method is based on measuring the amount of chlorophyll fluorescence of the seed envelope and of tissue containing chlorophyll becoming visible when cracks in the seed envelope are present. The invention consists of inducing fluorescence of the chlorophyll molecule by irradiating the seeds with electromagnetic radiation with a suitable wavelength and measuring the chlorophyll fluorescence. Properties of the method are the very high sensitivity, being fully non-destructive and the very high speed. These characteristics of the invention make it possible to construct a sorting device by which seeds can be selected on basis of the amount of chlorophyll. Because the intensity of chlorophyll fluorescence is directly related to the maturity and the presence of cracks in the seed envelope, and therefore the quality of the seed, it is now possible to sort seeds on their quality. Experiments are being described of seeds from white cabbage, sugarbeet, carrot, pepper and tomato.
