Various systems, methods and materials are disclosed that enable efficient delivery of an agent into an adhesively adhered article, in which the agent elicits a desired outcome, on demand. This strategy, though general in scope, is also more specifically described with regard to enabling painless or atraumatic removal of products adhering to mammalian tissues such as skin and hair by suitably exploiting the ingress of an appropriate agent or like fluid. Other techniques and articles that aid in the handling or removal of such adhesive products are also disclosed.

Multiple processes for preparing porous articles are described. The porous articles can be in a wide array of shapes and configurations. The methods include providing a soluble material in particulate form and forming a packed region from the material. The methods also include contacting a flowable polymeric material with the packed region such that the polymeric material is disposed in voids in the packed region. The polymeric material is then at least partially solidified. The soluble material is then removed such as by solvent washing to thereby produce desired porous articles. Also described are systems for performing the various processes.

According to one exemplary embodiment, an apparatus for microreplication is disclosed. The apparatus includes a cooling unit (110) that contains a bottom layer (111), a plurality of side walls (112), and an intermediate layer (113). The bottom layer has an outer perimeter, and the plurality of side walls surround the outer perimeter of the bottom layer. The intermediate layer is positioned between the bottom layer and an upper portion of the side walls. The intermediate layer may include a plurality of openings (116,117,118), which may either hold a device that dispenses cooling agents or be used for drainage of cooling agents. The method utilizes the apparatus after heating and pressing of a polymer film during microreplication.

The current invention utilizes an extrusion coating method as a key step in a series of multilayer construction processes to make a laminate for graphic application. The extrusion coated layer performs as a strengthening layer to provide mechanical properties for the construction, while an ink receptive coating layer delivers high quality printability performance. High gloss can be achieved through the use of a PET carrier.
