The invention relates to a method for producing 4-amino-5-chloro-1-phenyl pyridazinone-(6) by reacting 4,5-dichloro-1-phenyl pyridazinone-(6) with aqueous ammonia in the presence of a catalyst. According to the invention, a catalyst is used which is soluble in the aqueous alkaline reaction medium but which is, however, essentially insoluble in the reaction mixture that is acidically regulated after the 4-amino-5-chloro-1-phenyl pyridazinone-(6) has been removed. The inventive method makes it possible, in a simple manner, to recover and reuse the catalyst.

A process is disclosed for preparing solid, free-flowing water-soluble salts of aryloxy-C1-C4-alkane carboxylic acids. Aryloxy-C1-C4-alkane carboxylic acids are reacted with a salt-forming base. Salts are formed in the melt in the presence or absence of an entrainer suitable for causing azeotropic water separation or in a solution in the presence of an entrainer suitable for causing azeotropic water separation. The entrainer is removed from the reaction mixture during or after the reaction and the solid salts are then isolated in the usual manner.

The invention also concerns the extrudates thus obtainable and the use of the extrudates which contain an aryloxy-C1-C4-alkane carboxylic acid with herbicidal action to combat undesired plant growth.

The process is characterised in that an alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl compound having formula (II) is at first reacted without additional diluting agents with hydrazine or a hydrazine derivative having formula (III), and the thus obtained reaction mixture is reacted in an additional reaction step with a mixture of sulphuric acid and iodine or a iodine- or hydrogen iodide-relasing compound.
