摘要: A transmission having a plurality of tilting balls and opposing input and output discs provides an infinite number of speed combinations over its transmission ratio range. The transmission provides multiple powerpaths and can be combined with electrical components to provide motor/generator functionality, which reduces the overall size and complexity of the motor and transmission compared to when they are constructed separately. In one embodiment, rotatable components of a continuously variable transmission are coupled separately to an electrical rotor and to an electrical stator so that the rotor and stator rotate simultaneously in opposite directions relative to one another. In other embodiments, an electrical rotor is configured to transfer torque to or from a disc that is in contact with a plurality of speed adjusters, while an electrical stator is configured to transfer torque to a shaft that is operationally coupled to the speed adjusters via an idler.

摘要: A traction-drive system that in one embodiment comprises an idler (110) rotatable about a longitudinal axis, a plurality of rotatable and generally disc-shaped planet rollers (300) each having an inner contact surface (310), a case contact surface (315) and an idler contact surface (320), the inner contact surface being of a first diameter, the case contact surface being a second diameter and the idler contact surface being of a third diameter, the planet rollers distributed about the idler and each planet roller contacting the idler at its respective idler contact surface. The traction drive system of this embodiment also comprises an inner ring (400) rotatable about the longitudinal axis adapted to contact the case contact surface of each of the planet rollers. In some embodiments, the inner contact surface of each roller only contacts the inner ring, the case contact surface of each roller only contacts the case ring and the idler contact surface of each roller only contacts the idler.

Shift cam discs cooperate with ball-leg assemblies to shift the transmission ration of the CVT. Load cam discs, a torsion disc, rolling elements, and a hub cap shell are configured to generate axial force, transmit torque, and manage reaction forces. In one embodiment, a splined input shaft and a torsion disc having a splined bore cooperate to input torque into the variator of the CVT. 摘要: Embodiments of the inventions disclosed include a continuously variable transmission (CVT) where power is transmitted from a group of balls to a shaft via an idler. In one application, the CVT couples to a gearbox and to a generator of a wind turbine. Traction elements of a CVT can be coated and/or textured, using various coating materials and textures, via disclosed coating and/or texturing methods. Methods and systems for shifting a CVT are disclosed. Certain components for a CVT are disclosed. For example, in one embodiment, a CVT includes a shaft having a spline and a shift flange. In another embodiment, a CVT includes a stator adapted to cooperate with shifter components. Disclosed is a CVT configured to produce a variable output speed that is always greater than an input speed. In one embodiment, a CVT produces a variable output speed that is always lower than an input speed.
