The method according to the invention is solely based on the behaviour of the internal combustion engine itself. External devices like an electrical starter motor are not used actively to ensure the rotary position of the crankshaft for an optimized restart. This ensures a cost effective and also a reliable rotary positioning of the crankshaft.
