A pivot width of the light beam in the first direction is larger than a pivot width of the light beam in the second width. A sectional shape of the light beam in the vicinity of the scanning unit is elliptical with a side (1041) in the first direction longer than a side (1042) in the second direction. The longer side is substantially parallel to the first direction of the scanning unit.
