摘要: A projection optical apparatus capable of providing high image quality and having a reduced size is disclosed. The projection optical apparatus includes a light valve and a projection optical system including a first optical system having a transmissive-refractive element and a second optical system having a reflective-refractive element. An image formed on the light valve is projected by the projection optical system on a projection surface. The optical axis in the first optical system is folded both vertically and horizontally. The first group of the first optical system is contained in a space (dead space) whose lower limit is defined by a lower edge of the second optical system, thereby reducing the depth of the apparatus.

摘要: Prism assemblies for projector display systems disclosed receive inputs from discrete color channels (e.g., red, green and blue channels. In one embodiment, “off state” light from the red, green, and blue DLP modulation may be reflected away from on-state light paths within the prism, tending to avoid uncontrolled scatter. In other embodiments, by keeping the colors separate for much of the prism path length, power levels may be significantly reduced at typical failure points. Light efficiency may be increased significantly when using discrete light sources like LEDs and lasers by removal of the additional red, green, and blue separation and re-combination losses.

The light diffusion plates 363a and 363b respectively include base members 366a and 366b having respective principal surfaces and a plurality of light diffusion members 369a and a plurality of light diffusion members 369b that are provided on the respective principal surfaces, and the light diffusion surfaces 367a and 367b may be formed of the respective principal surfaces on which the light diffusion members 369a and the light diffusion members 369b are provided.

Refractive optical system (121) is positioned between display device (110) and concave mirror (122) on an optical path. A surface of the optical element to which light of the image to be displayed on display device (110) is first incident is a concave surface.
