An exhaust purification system includes an SCR catalyst (32) disposed at an exhaust system of an engine (10) for using ammonia that is generated from urea water as a reducing agent to reduce and purify NOx contained in exhaust gas, a urea water injection device (31) that injects urea water to the SCR catalyst (32), an inlet-side electrode (37) that detects capacitance within the SCR catalyst (32) at least from the vicinity of the inlet of the SCR catalyst to the vicinity of an intermediate section in an exhaust gas flowing direction, an outlet-side electrode (38) that detects the capacitance within the SCR catalyst (32) at least from the vicinity of the intermediate section to the outlet of the SCR catalyst in the exhaust gas flowing direction, and an NH 3 adsorption amount calculation unit (52) that calculates the ammonia adsorption amount within the SCR catalyst (32) on the basis of the capacitance entered from the inlet-side electrode (37) and the capacitance entered from the outlet-side electrode (38).

A diagnosis device comprises: a diesel particulate filter (DPF) (52) that collects particulate matter (PM) in an exhaust gas; a resistive type PM sensor (20) that is provided at a downstream of the DPF (52) and that detects the amount of the PM from the current flowing through the PM deposited between electrodes (22), and for which regeneration is possible that combusts and eliminates the deposited PM; an actual regeneration interval calculating unit (41) that calculates the actual interval from the completion of the regeneration of the sensor (20) to the start of the next regeneration; a PM slippage amount calculating unit (43) that estimates the amount of PM slippage in the exhaust gas that is slipped through the DPF (52) assuming the DPF (52) being normal; an estimated regeneration interval calculating unit (45) that calculates, on the basis of the PM slippage amount, an estimated interval from the completion of the regeneration of the sensor (20) to the start of the next regeneration; and a DPF failure-normal determining unit (46) that determines whether the DPF (52) has failed or is normal by comparing the actual interval to the estimated interval.

The diagnostic device includes: a DOC (15) for oxidizing HC and NO in an exhaust gas; an SCR catalyst (22) for reducing and purifying NOx contained in the exhaust gas; a NOx purification rate calculation unit (41) which calculates, based on NOx values at upstream and downstream sides of the SCR catalyst (22), a low temperature NOx purification rate and a high temperature NOx purification rate; a HC heat generation rate calculation unit (42) which calculates an HC purification rate based on at least the difference between the exhaust gas heat quantities at upstream and downstream sides of the DOC (15); and a deterioration determination unit (45) which determines the deterioration in the NO 2 producing capability of the DOC (15) based on the calculated low temperature NOx purification rate, the calculated high temperature NOx purification rate, and the calculated HC purification rate.
