In the drop-side optical signal terminating apparatus 10d, after one wavelength division multiplexing light selected from a plurality of wavelength division multiplexing lights transmitted via the input-side optical fibers is separated into a plurality of wavebands which constitutes the wavelength division multiplexing light, a waveband including the drop wavelength is selected from the plurality of the wavebands; the one waveband is separated into a plurality of wavelength channels which constitutes the one waveband; the wavelength to be dropped is selected from the plurality of the wavelength channels; therefore, the selectors for the waveband selection and the wavelength selection can be formed by combining compact switches to implement the colorless, directionless, and contentionless function, thereby significantly reducing the scale of the optical signal terminating apparatus 10.

摘要: Provided is an optical cross-connect device whereby, in an optical node in an optical network, it is possible to easily support even an increase in the number of optical fibers between optical nodes. In an optical cross-connect device (OXC), an optical cross-connect unit (OXC1) comprises an internal connection input port (Pni1) and an internal connection output port (Pno1) for expansion, which are not connected to other optical cross-connect units. By connecting an internal connection output port and an internal connection input port of an optical cross-connect unit for expansion (OXCA) which the respective internal connection input port and internal connection output port for expansion of the optical cross-connect unit (OXC1), it is possible to inexpensively and easily install a new optical cross-connect unit in response to increases in the optical fibers which are connected to the optical node.

摘要: Provided is an optical network which makes it possible to increase frequency use efficiency of an optical signal when transmitting wavelength division multiplexed light. One or more optical path cross connection devices (OXC) through which a wavelength division multiplexed light signal travels when being transmitted from a prescribed transmission node to a prescribed receiving node, wherein when an optical channel inputted from an input optical fiber (Fi1-Fin) is routed or switched to one or more output optical fibers (Fo1-FoN), a plurality of optical channels adjacent on a frequency axis which are outputted to the same output optical fiber (FoN) in the input optical fibers (Fi1-Fin) are routed or switched to an output optical fiber by demultiplexing the plurality of optical channels as one bundle without demultiplexing each of the optical channels individually. Thus, it is possible to increase frequency use efficiency of an optical signal when transmitting wavelength division multiplexed light, because the instances of optical channel filtering are reduced and the loss caused by filtering is decreased.

摘要: This invention substantially reduces the hardware complexity of an optical add-drop multiplexer, in an optical node, that can drop desired signals from input optical fibers or add desired signals to output optical fibers leading away from an optical cross-connect. This invention is provided with a plurality of 1*20s optical couplers (PC) and a plurality of transponder banks (TBK). The optical couplers (PC) are connected to some or all of s sets of input optical fibers (Fi1 through Fi(n-2)), said sets being connected, respectively, to a plurality of optical cross-connect units (OXC1 through OXCs). Each of the transponder banks (TBK) has a set of s* 1 optical switches (PS), each of which receives, and selects one of, signals outputted from a subset of the optical couplers (PC), each optical couplers (PC) in said subset being connected to a different optical cross-connect unit (OXC1 through OXCs). In each transponder bank (TBK), for each of the signals outputted by the optical switches (PS) in that transponder bank (TBK), a signal of a desired wavelength is selected and supplied to a transponder.
