The invention relates to a filter body of a fluid filter, especially an air filter, comprising a cylindrical filter member (2) with an end disc (3) on at least one axial end thereof. Said end disc comprises a radially effective seal (9) which is arranged radially in relation to the arrangement on a sealing surface (10) when the filter body is mounted in a filter housing. Said end disc (3) also comprises supporting means (6) which extend, relatively to said filter member (2), in a ring-shape manner on the axially outer side of the end disc (3) and are designed to be axially elastic. When the filter body is mounted in a filter housing, said supporting means are supported by a support contour (11) formed on the filter housing and extending parallel to the end disc (3), whereby said filter body can be axially positioned in the filter housing. In order to produce the filter body in a cost effective way, the supporting means have an annular collar (6) at a distance from the end disc (3), extending axially and outwardly in relation to the filter element. An axial part (15) of said annular collar is designed so as to be axially elastic and so that, when the filter body is mounted in a filter housing, said annular collar (6) is axially supported by the supporting contour (11), whereby the annular collar (6) and the end disc (3) form an injection-moulded unitary piece made of plastic.

The invention relates to a method for linking two plastic components. According to the inventive method, the first component (2) is provided in at least one connecting section at which the link with the second component (6) is to be established with a heating element (18) that can be heated by induction. The second component (6) is fastened to the first component (2) in such a manner that both components (2, 6) contact the heating element (18). An induction welding step is performed in which the heating element (18) is heated to such a temperature that both components (2, 6) melt and fuse in the zone surrounding the heating element (18). The aim of the invention is to provide a method for establishing a firm connection between components (2, 6) that consist of plastic materials of very different viscosity. To this end, the connecting section (12) is configured in the form of a feather-and-tongue plug-in connection. The plug-in connection is provided with sealing means which render the space in the tongue (15) impermeable vis-à-vis the molten material. The heating element (18) is accommodated in said space. A force acts upon the components (2, 6) that prevents them from being displaced contrary to the plug-in direction.

Said end disc is meant to rest tightly and permanently in a radial manner against a locating surface of a filter housing. The end disc material can therefore result in sealing. For this purpose said end disc (3) may consist of a resilient material and has an annular collar (4) angled in the axial direction and having at least two regions (5, 6) inclined axially towards each other. The two regions (5, 6) inclined axially towards each other form a sealed edge (11). The radial position of the free axial end of the annular collar can provide said collar, when twisted radially, with improved permanent sealing capacity which is not lost even when the annular collar material sinks.
