摘要： A data transmitting device capable of performing copyright protection processing, when digital data retrieved from the information recording medium is AV data, which includes: an interface section for receiving information specifying the digital data to be output and the data receiving device and for outputting the digital data via the digital interface; a judgment section for judging whether or not the digital data includes video information; an authentication section for authenticating whether not the data receiving device is a proper data receiving device having a function of converting digital data into video data based on authentication data output from the data receiving device; a data retrieval section for retrieving the specified digital data from an external medium; and a control section for controlling the interface section to output the digital data via the digital interface only when the judgment section judges that the digital data includes video information and the authentication section authenticates that the data receiving device is the proper data receiving device. A data transmitting method, a data receiving device, an information processing apparatus, and an information recording medium are also provided.

The first recording medium that is non-rewritable prestores key data based on which a public key is derivable, and the main content.
The distribution device outputs verification information that includes the sub-content and is generated by applying a digital signature to relative information relating to the sub-content based on a secret key corresponding to the public key.
The recording device acquires and records the verification information on the second recording medium that is rewritable.

摘要： In an information input/output system, a user device inputs and outputs information to and from external sources including a key management device. The system includes the key management device that securely outputs invalid-device information specifying an invalid device unit that has been made invalid for use, and the user device that includes an input/output unit and a host unit. Via the input/output unit, input and output of information is enabled between the host unit and the external sources. The host unit securely receives, via the input/output unit, the invalid-device information outputted by the key management device and judges whether or not the input/output unit is an invalid device unit by referring to the received invalid-device information. When judging, that the input/output unit is an invalid device, the host unit thereafter prohibits input and output via the input/output unit. Due to this construction, the host unit can correctly judge whether or not the input/output unit is an invalid device unit.

A key management apparatus records node revocation patterns assigned to nodes in a tree structure to the recording medium in a particular order, as header information of key information, together with the encrypted media keys. The recording apparatus or the reproduction apparatus specifies the encrypted media key to be decrypted, by analyzing the node revocation patterns sequentially.

摘要： DVD-Video discs and playback apparatuses are assigned a region code indicating one of six regions into which the world is divided, for the purpose of protecting copyrights of content such as movies and music. However, playback apparatuses exist that illegally circumvent the function of checking the region code of the disc with the region code of the playback apparatus.The present invention provides a region restrictive viewing/listening system that enables regionally restricted viewing/listening, thereby preventing playback apparatuses which circumvent region code checking from playing back content correctly. A content recording apparatus encrypts content, based on an internally-stored region code, and records the encrypted content to a recording medium. A content playback apparatus decrypts the content, based on an internally-stored region code, and plays back the content.

The system is constituted from an input/output (IO) device and an information usage device. The IO device outputs an identifier (ID) list to the information usage device, the ID list including one or more identifiers (IDs), arranged according to a predetermined rule, that each correspond to a different valid or revoked device. The information usage device uses the received ID list to specify a target range that includes a target ID stored by the information usage device, and outputs range information indicating the specified target range to the IO device, which uses the received range information in judging whether the information usage device is valid or revoked.

The key management apparatus always keeps some leaves with which no user apparatus is not correlated in the tree structure, generates new leaves that are connected from the leaves and belong to a new layer, and assigns new user apparatuses to the newly generated leaves.
