Abstract:
A digital information recording apparatus to record a digital information to protect a copyright of digital information that includes at least first digital information and first copy control information. The digital information recording apparatus records the digital information based upon the first copy control information denotes one of: copy inhibition inhibiting copying of said first digital information; limited copy permission authorizing a predetermined number of times of copying of said first digital information; and unlimited copy permission authorizing unlimited copying of said first digital information.
Abstract:
There is provided a method by which, when a broadcast receiving device downloads and stores a content with an expiration time from a communication line etc, and a user reproduces the content, an electronic clock for judging the validity of the expiration time is set to a correct time and whether to reproduce the content or not is properly judged by using the correct time. In the method, the user is not allowed to set the electronic clock inside the broadcast receiving device, the clock is not set when the receiving device is started up, and time information is acquired from a broadcast wave or a communication line. If the time information is successfully acquired, the electronic clock is set by the acquired time information and then is used for judging the expiration time for use of the content on the assumption that the clock has been set correctly.
Abstract:
A reproducing apparatus (1) is disclosed. The reproducing apparatus (1) includes a reproducing section (42), a notifying section (10), and a notification controlling section (35). The reproducing section (41) reproduces content data. The notifying section (10) notifies a user that there are content data correlated with content data reproduced by the reproducing section (41). The notification controlling section (35) determines whether content data correlated with content data reproduced by the reproducing section have been retrieved and controls the notifying section to notify the user that there are the correlated content data when the correlated content data have been retrieved.
Abstract:
The object is to provide a data structure appropriate for performing rights management for multimedia-type contents, to further provide a recording medium containing data with the data structure, a reproduction device and a reproduction method for reproducing the data. The present invention is a computer-readable recording medium having recorded thereon license data for permitting a computer to use contents data comprising a plurality of resources, and the license data includes a resource-based use condition configuration structure, in which a use condition is set for the computer with respect to each of resources.
Abstract:
In a content data reproducing apparatus having a temporary memory for stream reproduction, a content data acquisition section acquires content data from an external content provision server. A storage control section temporarily stores the content data acquired by the content data acquisition section in the temporary memory such that the stored content data should be erased from the temporary memory when a power supply is turned off. A reproduction condition acquisition section acquires reproduction condition data which defines a reproduction condition for reproducing the content data. A reproduction section reproduces the content data read from the temporary memory. A reproduction control section operates in case that the reproduction condition is satisfied for supplying the reproduction section with the content data read from the temporary memory for the reproduction, and operates in case that the reproduction condition is no more satisfied for erasing the content data from the temporary memory even before the power supply is turned off.
Abstract:
When the user enters a command to eject an optical disc from an optical-disc apparatus by operating an input unit, a CPU records information such as an operating mode and a location accessed immediately prior to ejection of the disc into a RAM unit as resume-function related information. The resume-function related information is then supplied to the optical disc to be recorded thereon by way of a write-in channel buffer, a switch, an ECC circuit, an RF & demodulation/modulation circuit and an optical head. Accordingly it is possible to make an access to a location on an optical disc accessed immediately prior to ejection of the disc from an optical-disc apparatus when the disc is reinserted into the optical-disc apparatus.
Abstract:
An optical disk (100) stores operation identification information which causes a recording and reproduction apparatus (1) into which the optical disk (100) is inserted to recognize the optical disk (100) as a disk causing the recording and reproduction apparatus (1) to perform a commercial transaction over a network, and which serves as a trigger for causing the recording and reproduction apparatus (1) to perform the commercial transaction. Hence, by causing the recording and reproduction apparatus (1) to recognize the operation identification information before the contents is downloaded, it is possible to prevent important information such as personal information stored in the optical disk (100) from leaking over the network via the recording and reproduction apparatus (1). This as a result allows improvement in security against information leakage.
Abstract:
A data tracking system comprises a hub (1) for monitoring data transmissions passing through the hub. The hub (1) includes a store of audiovisual data files (2) and also has access to a number of external stores 3 of data files via respective Internet links (4). Data receivers (5), located within geographical territories (6), can access the hub (1) via respective Internet links (7) so as to request selected data files from one or more of the stores (2, 3). Each receiver (5) accesses the hub (1) in order to request a combination of data files in a desired format and for a selected platform. In response, the hub (1) collects the requested files from the appropriate stores combines them into a single file, together with an identity tag, and transmits the combined file and identity tag in an encrypted version to the receiver (5). Data transmissions are monitored in real time by a monitoring station (8), where information from the identity tag is used for accounting purposes.
