摘要: A fuel intake system for a combustion engine of a type having V-shaped first (1L) and second (1R) cylinder banks and also having a crank axis of the crankshaft, which comprises a throttle casing (3) disposed in a center space delimited between the first and second cylinder banks, elongated first (4L) and second (4R) surge tanks extending in a direction parallel to the crank axis and disposed on respective sides of the center space, and a passage system communicating the throttle casing to each of the first and second surge tanks. The passage system comprises a merging region (5a) communicated with the throttle casing and first (5L) and second (5R) branch ducts branched off from one end of the merging region opposite to the throttle casing. The first and second branch ducts connect to the first and second surge tanks, respectively. Each of the first and second branch ducts is comprised of two independent passages (6c,6d;6i,6j) spaced apart from each other in a direction parallel to the crank axis. These two independent passages of each of the first and second branch ducts are communicated with different portions of the associated surge tank which are uniformly spaced from each other in a direction parallel to the crank axis.

摘要: An intake system for an engine allows supercharging using the dynamic effect of intake air has a surge tank (4Q,4L) for a cylinder group in which cylinders are ignited in a sequence discontinuous with each other, a second surge tank (4b,4R) for another cylinder group in which cylinders are ignited in a sequence discontinuous with each other, a first upstream intake passage (5g,5L) for supplying intake air to the first surge tank, a second upstream intake passage (5g,5R) for supplying intake air to the second surge tank, a connecting tank (9) for communicating intermediate portions of the individual intake passages (6a- with each other, and a short connecting passage (31) for communicating upstream portions of the first upstream intake passage and the second upstream intake passage with the connecting tank (9). When the number of engine revolution is high, intake air is supplied to each of the cylinders through the connecting tank and the individual intake passage by taking advantage of the short connecting passage and bypassing a long upstream intake passage and the surge tank. Further, the short connecting passage does not adversely affect the effect to be produced by resonant supercharging because the upstream portion of the intake passage is communicated with the connecting tank. The intake system can shorten the length of passage for supplying intake air when the number of engine revolution is high due to inertia supercharging, without sacrificing the effect to be achieved by resonant supercharging.

摘要: A cooling system for a V-type engine includes a radiator (5), having inlet (13) and outlet (8) conduits extending between the radiator and the engine, which cools coolant introduced therein through the inlet conduit (13), and a water pump (7) with an inlet port (7A), disposed between the engine body (2) and the radiator (5), which circulates the coolant, leaving the radiator through the outlet conduit (8), through the engine body. Between the radiator (5) and water pump (7), the cooling system is provided with a bypass passage (16), which communicates a passage, connecting both of the outlet ports to the inlet conduit, with a downstream part of the outlet conduit where a thermostat (15) is installed, and a suction passage (9) which communicates the inlet port (7A) of the water pump (7) with the downstream part of the outlet conduit by a suction passage. The suction passage (9) comprises an external passage, constituting an upstream portion thereof, which is disposed in the V-shaped space, and an internal passage, constituting a downstream portion thereof, which is formed in the engine body below the V-shaped space.

摘要: A four cycle, 12-cylinder engine includes four cylinder (1) groups each having three cylinders located adjacent to each other. The cylinders in each cylinder group have intake strokes which are apart one from another by 240° in terms of angle of rotation of the engine crankshaft. The cylinders in each cylinder group are connected through respective branch intake passages (9) with a common intake passage (7a,b,c,d). Means (8) is provided for separating the common intake passage of one cylinder group from the common intake passage of another cylinder group.
