To provide a mobile terminal device which enables a user to view the television broadcast while the television broadcast is being displayed or the television broadcast is start to be displayed even in the case where the remaining amount of battery is small, and which can perform an action which reflects the user's intention. The mobile terminal device (100) includes: a television broadcast receiving unit (101) which receives a television broadcast signal; a television broadcast processing unit (102) which decodes the stream of the received television broadcast signal; a display conversion unit (103) which converts the decoded YUV signal into an RGB signal on a frame-by-frame basis; a control unit (109) which controls actions of the mobile terminal device in the case where the remaining amount of a battery (112) falls to a predetermined amount or below while the video and audio of the television broadcast is being outputted or in the case where the remaining amount of the battery (112) is the predetermined amount or below at the time when the video and audio of the television broadcast are required to be outputted; and an electric power supply management unit (111) which detects remaining amounts of the battery (112) and notifies the control unit (109) of the remaining amounts of battery for every predetermined time points.

An image coding method for properly handling a 3D video format including a base layer and an enhancement layer includes a video layer and a system layer. The video layer includes a step (S1801) of coding an image to generate a coded stream. The system layer includes a step (S1802) of multiplexing the coded stream and an identifier to generate a system stream, the identifier indicating whether or not the image has a left-right mixed format that includes a base layer and an enhancement layer and that has a left view image area and a right view image area in each picture. In the coding step (S1801), the image that includes the base layer and the enhancement layer and that has the left view image area and the right view image area in each picture is coded to generate the coded stream, when the image has the left-right mixed format.

There is provided a mobile terminal having the TV function and capable of eliminating conflict of the TV broadcast reserved view with another operation mode such as mail creation, reproduction of a recorded program, and use of telephone and realizing simple operation. The mobile terminal includes a reservation storage unit (111) for holding the time to start the TV program display as view reservation; and a control unit (122) for performing control to start the TV program display at the aforementioned time and judging the current operation mode of the mobile terminal device. The control unit (122) further controls the judged operation mode and TV program display by the view reservation.

An image encoding device for encoding a still image and a moving image, comprises determination means for determining a first upper limit indicating the upper limit of a code quantity per picture of the still image and a second upper limit indicating the upper limit of a code quantity per picture of the moving image, encoding means for encoding the still image and the moving image so as to satisfy the first and second upper limits, multiplex means for multiplexing the encoded still image and the encoded moving image to create a stream, creation means for creating management information to specify the first and second upper limits, and output means for outputting the stream and the management information.
