摘要: Embodiments are directed selectively mixing media at an application server arbitrating a group communication session for a communication group. In an embodiment, the application server receives media, from one or more session participants of the group communication session, for transmission to the communication group. The application server determines a number of session participants that are providing the received media. The application server determines whether to bypass the received media from entry into a de-jitter buffer based at least in part on the determined number, wherein the de-jitter buffer is configured to queue media from session participants for mixing by the application server during the group communication session. For example, the application server can determine to bypass the received media from entry into the de-jitter buffer if the number is below a threshold number. The application server transmits the received media to the communication group.

摘要: In an embodiment, an apparatus predicts traffic usage in uplink and downlink directions of a link that is configured to support a communication session for the client device. In an example, the predictions can be based upon a call state parameter (e.g., if the client device is a non-floorholder or is muted the client device is unlikely to send much traffic in the uplink direction, etc.). The apparatus initiates, in association with the communication session, an uplink-specific QoS adjustment to a first level of QoS assigned to the uplink direction of the link based on the predicted traffic usage in the uplink direction, and/or a downlink-specific QoS adjustment to a second level of QoS assigned to the downlink direction of the link based on the predicted traffic usage in the downlink direction. The apparatus can correspond to the client device or alternatively to a server.

摘要: In an embodiment, an access network monitors traffic, associated with a radio bearer of a given type (e.g., a radio bearer expected to be associated with delay-sensitive and/or high-priority communication sessions), between a user equipment (UE) in a dedicated-channel state (e.g., CELL_DCH state) and an application server that is arbitrating a communication session between the UE and at least one other UE. Based on the monitored traffic, the access network selectively transitions the UE away from the dedicated-channel state. For example, if traffic on the radio bearer of the given type is detected before expiration of a timer, the UE can be permitted to remaining in the dedicated-channel state. Alternatively, if no traffic on the radio bearer of the given type is detected before expiration of the timer, the UE can be transitioned away from the dedicated-channel state (e.g., into CELL_FACH, CELL_PCH or URA_PCH state).

摘要: An apparatus and method for performing lawful intercept in group calls is described herein. When a group call is established having a monitoring target as a member, a monitoring component obtains signaling, location, and data related to the monitoring target, correlates this information, and provides it to a call intercept component.

摘要: An embodiment is directed to an access network that configures set of paging indicator (PI) bits within a quick paging channel (QPCH) cycle to page a group of access terminals. An access terminal within the group receives the QPCH cycle, and evaluates the PI bits to determine whether a unicast page and/or group page is present. Another embodiment is directed to selecting less than all timeslots in one or more control channel cycles of a downlink control channel, and configuring a page message to convey the selected timeslots to an access terminal. The access terminal receives the configured page message and decodes information only within the selected timeslots. Another embodiment is directed to generating a transport-layer message for transmission to at least one access terminal, and configuring the transport-layer message by modifying an application-layer portion of the transport-layer message. An access terminal receives the message and extracts the application-layer portion.
