The invention concerns a method for preparing aminonitrile and diamine by catalytic hydrogenating dinitrile. It consists of a method for preparing aminonitrile and diamine by catalytic hydrogenating aliphatic dinitrile having 3 to 12 carbon atoms, characterised in that the final reaction mixture, from which the catalyst has been previously separated, is acidified by adding a sufficient amount of a mineral or organic acid before it is subjected to an operation distilling the reaction products and the non-transformed dinitrile. The invention more particularly concerns the preparation of amino-6-capronitrile and hexamethylenediamine by hydrogenating adiponitrile. The amino-6-capronitrile can be hydrolysed in liquid phase or gaseous phase to lead to caprolactame. The hexamethylenediamine can be used in particular for preparing polyamide-66 by reaction with adipic acid.

The method therefore comprises at least partially separating the palladium dissolved in a solution that also contains 3-pentenoic acid, and is characterised in that said solution is acidified and stirred with an aqueous hydrochloric acid solution and in that two liquid phases are produced, including an aqueous phase containing all or part of the palladium.

More particularly, it concerns a method for continuous hydrogenation of dinitrile, at least partly into corresponding aminonitrile, in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst non-dissolved in the reaction medium. The invention is characterised in that it is carried out in an equipment comprising continuous means separating the hydrogenate and the catalyst in a zone wherein the gas-liquid transfer is limited or nil, said separation and recycling of the catalyst being carried out in a time interval of not more than 30 minutes.

The invention discloses a method for purifying adipic acid by crystallization or recrystallization in at least one carbolyxic acid. More precisely, it discloses an improvement in adipic acid crystallization or recrystallization, characterised in that the said crystallization or recrystallization is effected in at least one carboxylic acid with a melting point below 20 °C. The presence of carbon monoxide during crystallization or recrystallization can have a favourable effect on the adipic acid purity, in particular by reducing the content of metal catalyst traces of the adipic acid. The adipic acid purity can also be improved when the crystallization or recrystallization is effected in presence of a strong proton acid.
