摘要: Disclosed herein are systems, devices, and methods for guiding placement, orientation, and fixation of an orthopedic implant. Examples include a surgical guide having a first surface structured to fit within a prosthetic cup, at least one guide hole through the first surface, and an alignment structure having a contour formed from data indicative of the patient anatomy. The contour of the alignment surface is complementary to a portion of the patient anatomy in a unique orientation that aligns the guide hole with tissue suitable for receiving a fastener. The alignment structure preferably includes an arm with a first end coupled to a rim of the guide and a second end coupled to the contour. In certain implementations, the guide includes a plurality of alignment structures. Further disclosed are methods of making and using a surgical guide for aligning an orthopedic implant.

The implants may include a base member, such as an acetabular shell or an augment, that is configured to couple with an augment, flange cup, mounting member, or any other suitable orthopedic attachment. Mounting members include, for example, flanges, blades, hooks, and plates. In some embodiments, the orthopedic attachments may be adjustably positionable about the base member or other attachments, thereby providing modularity for assembling and implanting the device, and various securing and/or locking mechanisms may be used between the components of the implant.

摘要: A revision hip implant comprises a stem, sleeve, and neck. A proximal IM portion and a distal IM portion of the stem are generally aligned along a long axis of the stem. A body portion of the stem is proximally oriented and has a surface extending generally radially out from the long axis of the stem. The sleeve is configured to be received over the distal intramedullary canal portion of the stem and further has an inner surface configured to mate with the distally extending taper surface of the proximal intramedullary canal portion. The neck is configured to be received in the body portion of the stem. The body portion of the stem has a neck receiving surface configured to mate with a neck taper portion of the neck. The neck taper portion is oriented at an angle relative to the long axis.

摘要: Shrouds (10) for use with an implant (12) in order to allow a surgeon to determine when implant (12) has been inserted into the femoral canal (or other bone as applicable) a proper distance during implantation. Such a shroud (10) is therefore useful ensuring that the patient's limb after prosthesis implantation is the correct length. Shroud (10) in a preferred embodiment contains a flange (50) which is properly positioned relative to the implant (12) in order to indicate proper insertion distance, such as by abutting a portion of the femur upon reaching correct insertion distance. The shroud (10) may contain a cap (54) which receives all or part of the neck (16) or taper (24) of the implant (12) in order to position flange (50) correctly. Alternatively, shrouds according to the present invention can attach to, connect to, or hold portions of other structure such as instrumentation for installing the implant in order to position the flange (50) relative to the implant. The shroud (10) can also help determine correct version of the implant (10), retain cement in the bone canal or cavity during implantation, pressurize the cement, and protect surfaces of the implant (12) during the implantation.
