An implant suitable for being anchored with the aid of mechanical vibration in an opening provided in bone tissue. The implant is compressible in the direction of a compression axis under local enlargement of a distance between a peripheral implant surface and the compression axis. The implant includes a coupling-in face which serves for coupling a compressing force and the mechanical vibrations into the implant, which coupling-in face is not parallel to the compression axis. The implant also includes a thermoplastic material which, in areas of the local distance enlargement, forms at least a part of the peripheral surface of the implant.

A medical device for treating hip joint osteoarthritis in a human patient by providing at least one artificial hip joint surface is disclosed. The medical device comprises a prosthetic part (98) or a bone plug (31) adapted to be placed in a hole (18) in the pelvic bone such that a concave interior surface of the prosthetic part or the bone plug is facing in a direction towards the caput femur, and a supporting member (95; 99) connected to said prosthetic part or bone plug. The prosthetic part or the bone plug is adapted to be inserted into said hole from the abdominal side of the acetabulum and oriented, during the insertion, such that the concave interior surface is facing in the direction towards the caput femur. The supporting member is adapted to be positioned on the acetabulum side of the pelvic bone to fixate the prosthetic part or bone plug to a surface arranged on the acetabulum side of the pelvic bone, when implanted. The medical device comprises at least one of: an artificial caput femur surface (45), wherein a largest cross-sectional distance of said artificial caput femur surface is smaller than said hole, such that said artificial caput femur surface can pass through said hole; and an artificial acetabulum surface (65), wherein a largest cross-sectional distance of said artificial acetabulum surface is smaller than said hole, such that said artificial acetabulum surface can pass through said hole.

The hip joint has a caput femur (5) integrated with a collum femur (6) having a collum and caput center axis (CX), extending longitudinally along the collum and caput femur, in the center thereof. The medical device comprises an elongated portion (2201) adapted to at least partially replace the collum femur. The said elongated portion is adapted to be at least one of integrated in and connected to a prosthetic spherical portion (45) adapted to replace the caput femur. The prosthetic spherical portion in turn is adapted to be movably placed in a prosthetic replacement for the acetabulum (65) being fixated to the pelvic bone (9; 1801; 1802; 1803; 1804) and having at least one extending portion (1823) for clasping said prosthetic spherical portion. The elongated portion comprises a restricting portion adapted to restrict the motion range of the spherical portion in relation to said prosthetic replacement for the acetabulum. A trial implant system and method of trialling are described. A stem prosthetic implant (320) has a neck bearing a taper (324). A protector (330) covers the taper and is removable from the taper. The protector has a side wall (333, 342) and an end wall (335), and the end wall is rigid and an inner surface (346) of the side wall is deformable. A head prosthetic implant (380) has a prosthetic articulating surface (382) and includes a tapered bore arranged to matingly receive the taper therein to form a prosthetic assembly of the stem prosthetic implant and the head prosthetic implant. A head trial implant (310) has a trial articulating surface (312) and including a trial bore (318) arranged to matingly receive the taper covered by the protector therein to form a trial assembly of the stem prosthetic implant and the head trial implant. The trial assembly provides at least a portion of the trial articulating surface coincidental with the prosthetic articulating surface provided by the prosthetic assembly.
