摘要:
The present invention features a method for treatment of an organism having a disease or condition characterized by an abnormality in a signal transduction pathway, wherein the signal transduction pathway includes a rdgB protein. The invention also features methods for diagnosing such diseases and for screening for agents that will be useful in treating such diseases. The invention also features purified and/or isolated nucleic acid encoding a rdgB protein.

The specification describes isolated, purified, or enriched nucleic acid molecules which correspond to particular genes encoding kinases, and to fragments of such genes, as well as the polypeptides encoded by such nucleic acids and antibodies specific for those polypeptides. Also disclosed are methods using such nucleic acid molecules, polypeptides, or antibodies for isolating the full coding sequences for those kinases, for determining the expression patterns and levels for those genes, for screening for agents which modulate the activity of one of the kinases, and for diagnosing or treating a disease associated with one of the kinases.

The present invention relates to protease polypeptides, nucleotide sequences encoding the protease polypeptides, as well as various products and methods useful for the diagnosis and treatment of various protease-related diseases and conditions. Through the use of a bioinformatics strategy, mammalian members of the of PTK's and STK's have been identified and their protein structure predicted.

The present invention concerns polypeptides, nucleic acids encoding such polypeptides, cells, tissues and animals containing such nucleic acids, antibodies to the polypeptides, assays utilizing the polypeptides, and methods relating to all of the foregoing. Preferably, the polypeptides of the present invention are phosphatases. Through the use of a 'motif extraction' bioinformatics script, additional mammalian members of the phosphatase family are herein presented. These phosphatases include MKP-like proteins, a CDC14-like protein, a PTEN-like protein, and myotubularin (MTM)-like proteins. Classification of proteins as new members of established families has proven highly accurate not only in predicting motifs present in the remaining non-catalytic portion of each protein, but also in their regulation, substrates, and signaling pathways.
