The method in a node configured as an MBMS gateway includes, in response to receipt of a session start request message for a multicast session, allocating a transport network IPv4 multicast address and a transport network IPv6 multicast address for the session, and generating another session start request message and transmitting it to a node configured as a Mobility Management Element (MME). The session start request message includes a first pair of the allocated transport network IPv4 multicast address and an IPv4 multicast source address, and a second pair of the allocated transport network IPv6 multicast address and an IPv6 multicast source address. In response to receipt of MBMS data from a node configured as a Broadcast-Multicast Service Center (BM-SC), the MBMS data is sent using at least one of the first and second pair of addresses.

    摘要: For managing multicast transmissions in a cellular network, a control plane module (162) of a gateway node (160) of the cellular network establishes one or more control plane sessions associated with the multicast transmissions. Further, a user plane module (164) of the gateway node (160) establishes one or more user plane sessions associated with the multicast transmissions. The control plane module (162) of the gateway node (160) indicates context information of the control plane session(s) to an external storage (175). During a failure of the control plane module (162) of the gateway node (160), the user plane module (164) of the gateway node (160) maintains the user plane session(s). After recovery from the failure of the control plane module (162) of the gateway node (160), the control plane module (162) of the gateway node receives the context information from the external storage (175) and re-establishes at least one of the more control plane session(s) on the basis of the received context information.

In this method, statistics of payload transferred between the UE and the GW has been monitored, and if the statistics of payload within a predetermined time period exceeds a first threshold, and the UE is in the non-3GDT communication, then switching the non-3GDT communication to the 3GDT communication. The present application has also disclosed the SGSN, GW, and the network system adaptive to perform the method.

    摘要: A method for paging a user equipment, UE, in a radio access network, RAN, served by a core network node. When a UE attaches to the radio access network, a service area identity included in the respective a respective registration message from each UE, is received and registered in the core network node. The method further includes a step of receiving one or more data packets to be sent to a receiving UE attached to the network and determining a permitted latency for delivery of the one or more data packets to the UE. When permitted latency exceeds a predetermined latency threshold, a step of retrieving the registered SAI for the receiving UE is performed. In a concluding step in the method of paging, a first page is performed of the UE, directing the first page to cells belonging to a first paging area determined by the retrieved SAI.
