摘要: A fusion device for facilitating arthrodesis in the disc space between adjacent vertebrae, comprising: a hollow load bearing body (11') having an outer surface and an internal surface defining a chamber for an osteogenic material and a first opening (15a) in communication with said chamber, said body defining a second opening (24') extending from said internal surface to said outer surface; and a cap (300) having an occlusion body (301) configured for engagement with said first opening and an elongate anchor (325) projecting from said occlusion body, said anchor including a first end attached to said occlusion body and an opposite second end having engaging means (315) for engaging said second opening to hold said occlusion body within said first opening.

摘要: A plate (11) of biocompatible material is provided having curvature in two planes such that it conforms to the curvature of the L5 vertebral body and to the patient's lordotic curve. Holes are provided receiving screws (16, 20) for anchorage in the vertebral body and sacrum. A flange or foot portion on the plate provides a wider base end area (11B) for support in the L5-S1 interspace. The foot portion is also arranged for appropriate entry angle of screws (20) into the sacrum such as to improve anchorage in the sacrum. Anti-backout and low profile features (21, 22) are incorporated. The anterior lumbar plate is situated to maintain the anterior interbody bone graft (31) in compression by resisting tensile forces during extension.

摘要: An intervertebral disk arthroplasty device adapted to replace a disk between a first vertebra and a second vertebra in the spine, said arthroplasty device comprising a first member having a first joint surface, a top surface opposite said first joint surface, a first posterior end and a first anterior end; a second member having a second joint surface facing said first joint surface, a bottom surface opposite said second joint surface, and second posterior and anterior ends juxtaposed with corresponding ones of said first posterior and anterior ends; a first insert cup having a first receiving surface for receiving said top surface, and a first engaging surface opposite said first receiving surface for engaging the first vertebra; a second insert cup having a second receiving surface for receiving said bottom surface, and a second engaging surface opposite said second receiving surface for engaging the second vertebra; and retaining ribs disposed on each of said first and second engaging surface and extending parallel with said anterior and posterior ends of said first and second members, said retaining ribs being configured to permit movement of the disk arthroplasty device in a first direction and to resist movement of said disk arthroplasty device in an opposite direction.
