A lock-up clutch (4) by way of which input/output shafts (1a, 2a) of a torque converter (2) are operatively connected to each other is connected to an electronic type pressure control valve (4). During speed changing in a transmission, a problem of interruption of transmission of torque can be solved by turning off the lock-up clutch (4) at the time point when filling of one of speed changing clutches (21 to 24) to be next brought in an operatively engaged state with hydraulic oil is completed. Hydraulic pressure (P t ) in the torque converter (2) is exerted on the back pressure portion of a piston of the lock-up clutch (4), while hydraulic pressure (P t ) in the torque converter (2) is exerted on the proportional solenoid (42) side of the pressure control valve (40). This makes it possible to reduce the initial hydraulic pressure. During speed changing, the lock-up clutch (4) is not fully released from the engaged state but it maintains its operative state at low pressure, causing shock caused by shifting the lock-up state to be reduced. When hydraulic pressure is gradually increased, an extent of opening of the throttle, weight of the vehicle and the current gear ratio are derived so as to vary a rate of the gradual increase of hydraulic pressure depending on values of these parameters. When the vehicle runs at a normal cruising speed, control is carried out such that hydraulic pressure in the lock-up clutch assumes a value peripheral to output torque from the engine. This enables a running region of the lock-up clutch held in an operatively engaged state to be enlarged substantially.

A hydraulic pump control device to be used for construction machinery, which is provided with first and second hydraulic pumps driven by the engine, and hydraulic actuators connected to said first and second hydraulic pumps through first and second operation valves. The values of surplus horse power ΔHP1 and ΔHP2 are calculated on the basis of values of standard allowable suction horse power set for the first and second hydraulic pumps and the values of actual suction horse power (HP1), (HP2) of these pumps, and allowable discharge quantities (V1P), (VP) are calculated on the basis of the number (N) of revolutions of the engine, the values of discharge pressure (P1), (P2) of hydraulic pumps, the values of the surplus horse power, and the values of the standard allowable suction horse power. The smaller one out of the target discharge quantity and allowable discharge quantity is selected as minimum target discharge quantities (V1), (V2) and angles of swash plates of the hydraulic pumps are controlled so that these quantities are set at every hydraulic pump. Accordingly, the values of the suction horse power of the hydraulic pumps are properly controlled in a state wherein the sum of values of the standard allowable suction horse power is kept constant.

This invention relates to an armoring structure for a construction machine, wherein an upper swing body (3) is provided on a lower self-propelled crawler (1) so that the swing body (3) can be turned, the construction machine being further provided with a working machine (4) at the front portion of the swing body (3), and an engine room (6), which is enclosed with an engine room cover (5), at the rear portion thereof. This cover (5) is formed integrally so that the cover (5) as a whole can be opened and closed, whereby the construction of the engine cover is simplified. In the present invention, a floor plate (10a) with which the front upper surface of the upper swing body (3) is covered, a lever stand (10c) and an outer circumferential frame (10b) are molded integrally out of a fiber-reinforced resin to form an armoring body (10), which is fixed detachably to the swing body (3). This enables the number of parts to be decreased, an armoring body of even a complicated shape to be molded easily, and the assembling man-hour to be decreased.
