The prosthetic wrist implant includes a radial component (40) including a base member (46) having an upper bearing surface and a lower surface having an elongated radial stem (48) for fixation to a radius bone. The elongated radial stem (48) can be in an off-centered position in relation to a center of the lower surface. A carpal component (44) is also provided including a substantially planar base member having an upper surface and a lower surface with at least one socket protrusion extending therefrom, and may further included an elongated carpal post (50) member for fixation to one or more carpal bones. An articulating bearing component (42) for placement between the radial (40) and carpal (44) components is provided and includes an upper surface defining at least one socket recess and a lower bearing surface for cooperative engagement with the upper bearing surface of the radial component. The socket protrusion of the carpal component is adapted to linearly engage the socket recess of the bearing component to desirably limit rotational and translational movement of the carpal component relative to the bearing component.

A method and related materials and apparatus for using minimally invasive means to repair (e.g., reconstruct) tissue such as fibrocartilage, and particularly fibrocartilage associated with diarthroidal and amphiarthroidal joints. The method involves the use of minimally invasive means to access and prepare damaged or diseased fribrocartilage within the body, and to then deliver a curable biomaterial, such as a curable polyurethane system, to the prepared site, and to cure the biomaterial in situ in order to repair the fibrocartilage. Applications include repair (e.g., reconstruction or replacement) of the intervertebral disc of the spine. An apparatus is provided in the form of an uninflated balloon that can be inserted into the disc space and there inflated with biomaterial in order to distract the space and provide a permanent replacement disc.
