Abstract:
The present application proposes a bone anchor (116), comprising an interconnection portion (172) to slidingly engage a spacer (112), a fixation portion (184) spaced apart from the interconnection portion to fix the anchor to a bone, and a leg (196, 198) connecting the fixation portion (184) to the interconnection portion.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an attachment member (2) and a connecting member (16) for a carpometacarpal thumb joint prosthesis (1) as well as to said thumb joint prosthesis. The attachment member (2) comprises a screw-like part (4) for attachment by screwing into the second meta-carpal bone and a locking device (8) for locking the screw-like part to the connecting member (16). The connecting member comprises an elongated, arcuate element (16) which at one end portion (16a) thereof is configured with a hole (14) for connection to the attachment member (2) for the second metacarpal bone and which at the opposite end portion (16b) thereof is configured with a hole (15) for connection to an attachment member (3) for the first metacarpal bone. The joint prosthesis (1) comprises said attachment member (2) for the second metacarpal bone, an attachment member (3) with a screw-like part (5) for attachment by screwing into the first metacarpal bone and with an articulating ball element (6) as well as a corresponding articulating socket element (7), and said connecting member (16).
Abstract:
A method for inserting an intervertebral disc prosthesis into a space between two vertebrae involves inserting the prosthesis partway into the space under constraint to prevent endplates of the prosthesis from articulating, releasing the prosthesis from constraint, and inserting the unconstrained prosthesis farther into the space. In some embodiments, the method involves grasping the prosthesis with a grasping device to insert the prosthesis partway under constraint, loosing the grasping device to release the prosthesis from constraint, and pushing the prosthesis farther into the disc space using the grasping device and/or one or more separate pusher devices. A set includes a grasping device, at least one separate pushing device, and optionally a vertebral spreading device and/or a vertebral midline indicator device.
Abstract:
An interbody spinal fusion cage for posterior interbody fusion procedures includes a superior member and an inferior member connected to each other via a joint. The joint allows the interbody spinal fusion cage to achieve lordosis even if implanted non-orthogonal to the sagittal plane. For example, the joint can be a hinge oriented non-normal to a longitudinal axis of the interbody spinal fusion cage, a polyaxial ball joint, and/or a universal joint. Complementary locking mechanisms, such as locking teeth or a ratchet-and-pawl arrangement, can be provided near the posterior ends of the superior and inferior members in order to prohibit the posterior ends of the superior and inferior members from separating from each other in situ. Bone holes can be provided in the superior and inferior members.
Abstract:
An intervertebral support device to impose an anatomic distance between two adjacent vertebral bodies having a pair of vertebral support elements for introduction between the edge portions of the rear half of the vertebrae, at respective substantially symmetrical positions of the instantaneous rotation axis of the natural relative flexion-extension movement of the two adjacent vertebrae. The device assists stabilizing and/or restoring the correct position of the rotation axis, which characterizes the first stage of the degenerative breakdown, without significantly limiting the relative movement of the two vertebrae. The support elements have preferably a constraint means that constrains them to the edge portions of the vertebral bodies, in particular to resist the reaction force on the intervertebral disc.
Abstract:
A spacer device (1) for the two-step treatment of prosthesis infections, made from biologically compatible and porous material designed to allow the possibility of adding pharmaceutical products, active and/or therapeutic ingredients, includes a first portion (2) designed to be fixed to a corresponding bone bed remaining from a previous implant, and a second portion (3) designed to be inserted in a corresponding articular area of the patient, the first portion (2) and the second portion (3) being attached by adjustable connecting means (4).
