A prosthesis for arthroplasty comprises members which can be used for arthrodesis. The prosthesis comprises two prosthesis members (2, 3). The prosthesis members (2, 3) comprises a first screw-like attachment member (4) and a second screw-like attachment member (5) respectively, and a socket member (6) and a head member (7) respectively. The socket member (6) has an attachment pin (16) which is insertable into a hole (8) in the first screw-like attachment member (4) and the head member (7) has an attachment pin (19) which is insertable into a hole (9) in the second screw-like attachment member (5). The hole (8) in the first screw-like attachment member (4) is partly configured to define a press fit with the attachment pin (16) of the socket member (6) and partly threaded to alternatively permit securing by screwing in said hole of a locking member for cooperation with a lockable member which is configured for adjustable setting thereof relative to the locking member and for fixation thereof, in set position, to the locking member, which lockable member is made in one piece with the second attachment member, or for cooperation with a lockable member which replaces the head member in the second screw-like member.

In the first as well as in the second screw-like member (4, 5) there is provided at least one inner second hole (30 and 33 respectively) which is designed to permit insertion thereinto of a rod (31) of a screw tool (32) in order to secure by screwing the first and second screw-like member (4, 5) respectively, at the respective bone (39; 41, 42). A method and system for the creation or modification of the wear surface of orthopedic joints, involving the preparation and use of one or more partially or fully preformed and procured components (10), adapted for insertion and placement into the body and at the joint site. In a preferred embodiment, components (10) can be partially cured and generally formed ex vivo and further formed in vivo at the joint site to enhance conformance and improve long term performance. In another embodiment, a preformed balloon (96) or composite material can be inserted into the joint site and filled with a flowable biomaterial in situ to conform to the joint site. In yet another embodiment, the preformed components (10) can be fully cured and formed ex vivo and optionally further fitted and secured at the joint site. Preformed components (10) can be sufficiently pliant to permit insertion through a minimally invasive portal, yet resilient enough to substantially assume, or tend towards, the desired form in vivo with additional forming there as needed.

Prosthetic wrist implants and methods are provided. The prosthetic wrist implant includes a radial component (40) including a base member (46) having an upper bearing surface and a lower surface having an elongated radial stem (48) for fixation to a radius bone. The elongated radial stem (48) can be in an off-centered position in relation to a center of the lower surface. A carpal component (44) is also provided including a substantially planar base member having an upper surface and a lower surface with at least one socket protrusion extending therefrom, and may further included an elongated carpal post (50) member for fixation to one or more carpal bones. An articulating bearing component (42) for placement between the radial (40) and carpal (44) components is provided and includes an upper surface defining at least one socket recess and a lower bearing surface for cooperative engagement with the upper bearing surface of the radial component. The socket protrusion of the carpal component is adapted to linearly engage the socket recess of the bearing component to desirably limit rotational and translational movement of the carpal component relative to the bearing component.
