Abstract: A surgical system comprising a generator and a surgical instrument configured to receive power from the generator is disclosed. The surgical instrument comprises a housing, a shaft defining a longitudinal axis, an end effector, and an internal charge accumulator. The housing comprises a motor. The end effector is operably responsive to actuations from the electric motor, transitionable between an open and closed configuration, and rotatable about an articulation axis transverse to the longitudinal axis. The generator is incapable of supplying a sufficient power directly to the motor to perform the actuations. The internal charge accumulator is in electric communication with the generator and supplies power to the motor. The internal charge accumulator is chargeable by the generator to a threshold value at a charge rate dependent on a charge level of the internal charge accumulator. The charge rate is independent of a charge expenditure by the surgical instrument.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides electroporation systems and methods of energizing a catheter for delivering electroporation. A catheter for delivering electroporation includes a distal section and an electrode assembly. The distal section is configured to be positioned in a vein within a body. The vein defines a central axis. The electrode assembly is coupled to the distal section and includes a structure and a plurality of electrodes distributed thereabout. The structure is configured to at least partially contact the vein. Each of the electrodes is configured to be selectively energized to form a circumferential ring of energized electrodes that is concentric with the central axis of the vein.

Abstract: A method of modifying contact status of one or more electrodes in a plurality of electrodes located on a medical device includes measuring an electrical characteristic of each electrode in the plurality of electrodes located on the medical device, determining a contact status for each electrode in the plurality of electrodes based on the measured electrical characteristic for the corresponding electrode, wherein the contact status is indicative of contact with adjacent tissue. The method further includes modifying the contact status of a first electrode in the plurality of electrodes based on the determined contact status of one or more other electrodes in the plurality of electrodes.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for delivering energy to tissue comprising a user interface configured to display nerve stimulation response information and treatment information, and transmit user control instructions, a control unit having a processer configured to receive the user control instructions and control energy output, an energy source coupled to the control unit; and a medical device comprising an elongate member having a proximal end electrically coupled to the energy source; and a distal member at a distal end of the elongate member, the distal member having a plurality of contact elements configured to deliver stimulating energy to tissue, detect a response from the tissue to the stimulating energy, and deliver therapeutic energy to treat the tissue based on the response from the tissue, wherein the system is configured to deliver stimulating energy from the contact elements to the tissue proximate the target location, detect responses from the tissue to the stimulating energy, determine one or more portions of the tissue for therapy based on the responses detected from the tissue to the stimulating energy; and deliver therapeutic energy to the one or more portions of tissue identified for therapy.

Abstract: The disclosed technology includes basket catheters comprising a generally cylindrical structure having electrodes attached thereto. The disclosed technology can include a one-piece flex circuit comprising a proximal end and extending along a longitudinal axis to a distal end. The proximal end diverges into a plurality of first arms, each of the first arms divides into second and third arms that are connected to respective fourth arms proximate the distal end to define an elongated shape disposed about the longitudinal axis. The disclosed technology can include a structural unit for an end effector having a proximal hub, a distal hub, and a plurality of spines forming a generally cylindrical structure. The spines can comprise a plurality of first members attached to the proximal hub that diverge into a plurality of second and third members connected to respective fourth members proximate the distal hub.

Abstract: A thin walled elongated hollow lumen medical device structure comprised at least in part of a cylindrical flexible circuit with a flexible substrate. The cylindrical flexible circuit is configured in such a way to carry at least part of the device's structural loads and therefore reduce the medical device total wall thickness. An exemplary embodiment of the invention structure comprises a hollow lumen medical catheter where a flexible circuit comprises the entire inner lumen and the outer lumen is comprised of a polymer extrusion.
