摘要:
A hybrid chest compression device includes a backboard with a motor and a drive spool housed within the backboard. There is also a piston support frame secured to the backboard forming a patient channel between the piston support frame and the backboard. There is a belt operably secured to the drive spool and enclosed within the backboard and the piston support frame and a piston operably housed within the piston support frame wherein motion of the belt actuates motion of the piston. Actuation of the motor results in cyclic rotation and counter-rotation of the motor and corresponding winding and unwinding of the belt on the drive spool to effectuate cyclic extension and retraction of the piston against the patient's chest to perform mechanical cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

In various embodiments, an apparatus to aid in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (“CPR”), may include: a support structure (200, 300, 400) shaped to support a head and neck of a patient at respective positions suitable for opening an airflow of the patient during performance of CPR on the patient; one or more electromagnetic radiation sources (208, 308, 408) mounted on the support structure to emit electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength within a predetermined frequency range of wavelengths onto skin of the patient; and one or more electromagnetic or optical sensors (210, 310, 410) mounted on the support structure to detect electromagnetic radiation within the predetermined frequency range that is reflected from or transmitted into the patient's skin.

Improved automatic chest compression systems which use constricting belts, repeatedly inflating bladders, or reciprocating pistons to compress the chest. A bladder is placed between the chest and the particular mechanism used to compress the chest during CPR. The bladder maximizes the effectiveness of chest compressions.

In one embodiment, a method of rehabilitating a patient's cardiac/pulmonary activity and achieving increased fluid distribution, includes placing one inflatable/deflatable chest cuff over the patient's chest area and another inflatable/deflatable cuff over the patient's abdominal area, the chest cuff, when inflated, being arranged to depress the chest and force air out of the patient's lungs, the abdominal cuff being arranged, when inflated to apply pressure to the underlying vessels to direct blood into the patient's chest area; inflating and deflating the chest cuff and the abdominal cuff; connecting an intravenous (IV) line to one of the patient's blood vessels, the IV line connected to a fluid source, to facilitate the distribution of medications, by enhancing IV medication and fluid infusion rates, the chest and abdominal cuff inflation and deflation serving as multiple external circulatory pumps to increase the fluid infusion rate. In another embodiment, a patient interface kit includes an inflatable chest cuff adapted to extend over a patient's chest, the cuff including an inflatable bladder and a fastener system to secure the cuff in position for use on a patient, and at least a first electrode attached to a surface of the chest cuff and positioned to be adjacent the patient's heart with the cuff secured in position on the patient's chest, and a second first wiring lead configured for attachment to a utilization device. In another embodiment, a patient interface kit for a system for providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation or circulatory support to a patient, the system including a control unit, the kit including an inflatable abdominal cuff adapted to extend over a patient's abdomen and including an elongated flexible strap, an inflatable bladder and a fastener system to secure the abdominal cuff in position for use on a patient; an inflatable chest cuff adapted to extend over a patient's chest and including an elongated flexible strap, an inflatable bladder and a fastener system to secure the chest cuff in position for use on a patient; a patient platform or backboard configured for disposition against the patient's back during use; and a cuff prepositioning system configured to secure the chest and abdomen compression cuffs to the patient platform in a ready position and to facilitate rapid deployment of the cuffs for use on the patient.
摘要:
A method of processing a raw acceleration signal, measured by an accelerometer-based compression monitor, to produce an accurate and precise estimated actual depth of chest compressions. The raw acceleration signal is filtered during integration and then a moving average of past starting points estimates the actual current starting point. An estimated actual peak of the compression is then determined in a similar fashion. The estimated actual starting point is subtracted from the estimated actual peak to calculate the estimated actual depth of chest compressions. In addition, one or more reference sensors (such as an ECG noise sensor) may be used to help establish the starting points of compressions. The reference sensors may be used, either alone or in combination with other signal processing techniques, to enhance the accuracy and precision of the estimated actual depth of compressions.

A compression belt cartridge (5) has a double-oar shaped belt (3) and a cover plate (44) through which the belt (3) is threaded. The cover plate (44) is provided with hooks (51, 52, 53,54) and snap latches (47, 48, 49, 50) that fit into a belt drive platform (4). The cover plate (44) is sized and dimensioned to fit within only selected platforms. The belt (3) attaches to the means for tightening (42) the belt (3) via a spline (66) attached to the belt (3). The means for tightening (42) a belt (3) then repetitively tightens the belt (3), thereby accomplishing chest compressions.
