摘要: Products, compositions, systems, and methods for treating a subject carrying a virus or bacterium. The methods may be performed in situ in a non-invasive manner by application of an initiation energy to the subject thus producing an effect on or change to a target structure of the subject directly or indirectly. The methods may further be performed by application of an initiation energy to a subject to activate within the subject a photoactivatable drug directly or indirectly, optionally in the presence of one or more plasmonics active agents, thus treating the virus or bacterium. Also provided are kits containing products or compositions formulated or configured and systems for use in practicing these methods.

摘要: The present invention is directed to low toxicity boronated compounds and methods for their use in the treatment, visualization, and diagnosis of tumors. More specifically, the present invention is directed to low toxicity carborane-containing porphyrin compounds with halide, amine, or nitro groups and methods for their use particularly in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), X-ray radiation therapy (XRT), and photodynamic therapy (PDT) for the treatment of tumors of the brain, head and neck, and surrounding tissue. The invention is also directed to using these carborane-containing porphyrin compounds in methods of tumor imaging and/or diagnosis such as MRI, SPECT, or PET.

摘要: This invention is directed to the general method of transforming non-photoactive bioactive small molecule compounds of known structure and function into photoactive analogs of the small molecules which exhibit both photoactivity and the original biological targeting activity. The general method for the design of the photoactive analogs of the small molecules includes: (a) selecting a desired bioactive molecule; (b) identifying the region of the molecule that contains an aromatic or a heteroaromatic motif; and (c) either replacing said motif with a photoactive functional group of similar size, or modifying said motif to make it photoactive. Other aspects include photoactive analog compounds and photodiagnostic and phototherapeutic uses thereof.
