    Abstract: An applicator which is used by being inserted into a living body includes: a nozzle which has a longer nozzle main body, and a nozzle head, which is provided on a front end side of the nozzle main body and through which liquid together with gas is expelled, with a curved section, which is curved or bent and has flexibility, being formed on the front end portion of the nozzle main body; and an outer tube through which the nozzle main body is inserted so as to be movable along a longitudinal direction thereof and a curve angle of the curved section is changed by inserting the curved section, thereby adjusting a direction of the nozzle head relative to an axis of the nozzle main body, wherein a gap is formed along the longitudinal direction between the outer tube and the nozzle, and wherein the gap functions as a discharge path for discharging the gas within the body cavity via the gap to the outside of the body when the body pressure within the body cavity rises.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are representative embodiments of methods, apparatus, and systems used to deliver a prosthetic heart valve to a deficient valve. In one embodiment, for instance, a support stent is delivered to a position on the surface of the outflow side of a native heart valve of a patient, the support stent defining a support- stent interior. An expandable prosthetic heart valve is delivered into the native heart valve from the inflow side of the native heart valve and into the support-stent interior. The expandable prosthetic heart valve is expanded while the expandable prosthetic valve is in the support-stent interior and while the support stent is at the position on the surface of the outflow side of the heart valve, thereby causing one or more of the native leaflets of the native heart valve to be frictionally secured between the support stent and the expanded prosthetic heart valve.

    Abstract: A steerable guide catheter includes a tip ring at a distal end and one or more pullwires configured to engage with the tip ring when put in tension, the pullwire(s) thereby subjecting the steerable guide catheter to a curving or turning force. The tip ring includes a saddle and one or more pullwire channels allowing the pullwire to be looped over the saddle such that when the pullwire is placed under tension, it abuts against the saddle of the tip ring. Some embodiments include additional catheters axially aligned within or outside of the steerable guide catheter, and include a keying feature aligning the rotation of the multiple catheters. The keys of the keying feature can be formed of a polyamide with a glass microsphere filler, and can be thermally welded to the catheter.
