摘要: An atherectomy device comprising a rotatably motor-driven flexible hollow shaft that is coaxial with a longitudinal axis of the guidewire; an annular distal end of the hollow shaft having a diameter that is only slightly larger than the diameter of the guidewire and configured with cutting surfaces for piercing hardened atherosclerotic plaque! a tubular sleeve secured to a first peripheral surface of the hollow shaft and configured with cutting surfaces for enlarging an opening formed in the plaque; and an asymmetric cutting unit extending between the sleeve and a second peripheral surface of the hollow shaft, to enable eccentric rotation of the hollow shaft for cutting and removing additional occlusive material from the blood vessel to open a chronic total occlusion. In one embodiment, the cutting unit is a helical strand unit having a polygonal cross section with a first side that atraumatically contacts a blood vessel wall.

摘要: A method of treating an intravascular thrombus is disclosed. The method comprises providing a guide wire and catheter with at least one inductive element within a blood vessel to a distal location associated with the thrombus; and providing electromagnetic energy via at least one inductive element to the thrombus to cause thrombolysis. Medicated magnetic particles can be endovascularly localized and concentrated to the vascular territory affected by thrombosis. The method can also include providing an actuated segment on the distal portion of the guide wire to impart mechanical energy at the site of distal thrombus to work adjunctively with the inductive element facilitating thrombolysis. The guide wire can be shaped using an external guide wire shaping method to enable the user to impart precisely defined complex shapes to the distal aspect of the guide wire. The method can also include providing a support mechanism for the catheter using an actuator segment incorporated into or onto the catheter to aid in the proximal support for far distal localization of the guide wire mounted induction element and actuator.

摘要: An arterial device, system and method are provided for use with a patient undergoing a cardiac procedure. The system is configured for enabling one or more arterial devices to be accommodated in the aorta of the patient in use of the system, and a perfusion lumen arrangement provides therethrough a target perfusion flow into the aorta having a target perfusion flow rate that is significantly greater than a nominal perfusion flow rate, by an excess perfusion flow rate. A suction lumen arrangement provides therethrough a suction flow out of the aorta at a suction flow rate. The target perfusion flow rate and the suction flow rate may be concurrently and selectively controlled to cause embolic debris that may be present in the aorta to be diverted to the suction inlet, while providing the nominal flow rate to the body circulation of the patient.
