An introducer assembly (20) for the deployment of an implantable medical device (12) such as a stent, stent graft or other medical device, includes a dilator tip (22) which is able to be compressed radially so as to be withdrawn into the introducer assembly (20) so as to position the implantable medical device (12) at the distal most end of the introducer assembly once the dilator tip has been withdrawn. This enables the implantable medical device (12) to be positioned much closer to both parts of a patient's anatomy, for instance much closer to an aortic valve (92). In the preferred embodiment the dilator tip (22) includes an inflatable and deflatable balloon element (28) which is able to be withdrawn into the assembly wile the implantable medical device (12) remains in its constrained position in the introducer assembly (20).

The tubular body (11) includes a recoil section (31) that has a radial compressibility which is higher than a radial compressibility of at least a portion of the tubular body (11) that is distal to the recoil section (31). This enables the patient's vessel (50) and surrounding tissue (51) to recoil at the puncture site (52), which is advantageous for the patient, e.g. with respect to wound healing.

Described here are devices, systems, and methods for positioning a suction catheter in the airway of a patient. The systems may comprise a suction catheter, a delivery device, and/or a stylet. The delivery device may comprise an elongate shaft, an atraumatic distal end, an elongate passageway, and a retention element configured to releasably couple to an endotracheal tube. The suction catheter may be positioned in the elongate passageway, and the delivery device may help advance the suction catheter into the airway of a patient. In some variations, the delivery device may comprise elements configured to release the suction catheter in the airway after positioning.

A method to detect internal bleeding complications. The method includes determining, by an impedance assessment unit, a bioimpedance value at each of a plurality of frequencies. The method further includes normalizing, by the impedance assessment unit, each bioimpedance value at each frequency to a calibration bioimpedance value at that same frequency to produce a set of normalized bioimpedance values at the plurality of frequencies. The method also includes computing a bleed indication value based on the set of normalized bioimpedance values; and generating an alarm indicative of a bleed complication based on a comparison of the bleed indication value to a threshold.

The tube includes one or more lumen to expandable balloons (38) that are inflatable by fluid inserted through the lumen (56) and into the balloon or balloons, which are formed by elastic film sealed on opposite ends to the external diameter of the tube. The dilator is held in place during insertion, such as by a stainless steel shaft and a sheath portion of the dilator extending over the end of the tube being inserted into the cavity. A portion of the sheath may extend over and protect the balloon. A retractor net may be used to capture and remove the dilator or the dilator may be designed as a bioabsorbable or digestible material or of a material that passes safely through the digestive tract of a patient.
