Abstract: The present invention discloses an external device for determining stimulation for a patient having an implantable stimulator device, comprising: control circuitry programmed to (a) apply different modulation functions to time-invariant pulse parameters to create a plurality of different time-varying pulse waveforms, wherein each of the modulation functions modulates at least one of the time-invariant pulse parameters; (b) cause the implantable stimulator device to apply each of the time-varying pulse waveforms to the patient via the implantable stimulator device; (c) obtain at least one measurement for each of the applied time-varying pulse waveforms; and (d) select one or more of the time-varying pulse waveforms for the patient based at least in part on the at least one measurement.

Abstract: The present technology is generally directed to systems and methods for addressing a patient's sleep apnea. At least some embodiments include an electrode array and a controller. The electrode array can include one or more electrodes and can be configured to be implanted at least proximate to a target tissue of the patient in an orientation, with at least a vector component of the orientation aligned along an inferior-superior axis of the patient. The controller can be communicatively coupled to the electrode array and include one or more non-transitory, computer-readable media having instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of the controller, cause the controller to direct an electrical signal to be delivered by the electrode array to the target tissue.
