Provided are a method that makes it possible to recover a fresh and favorable aroma component from a biological ingredient while reducing the yield of recovering an unfavorable aroma component, as well as an apparatus that can be used in said method. A favorable aroma component is easily, selectively and efficiently recovered from a biological ingredient, not only by recovering a distillate by a conventional steam distillation method, but also by causing that part of aroma component, which passes through as a gas without being condensed at a cooling step, to be recovered in a liquid by gas-liquid contact.

Innovative food supplement based on biological lycopene, which is the bulk product, i.e. the total extract, obtained by treating with supercritical carbon dioxide a suitable extraction matrix, made by 50% biological tomato berries and 50% biological dry fruits (almonds, nuts and the like) and/or other components, following a co-extractive technology. Tomato berries are conveniently de-hydrated, milled and riddled; the co-extraction matrix (dry fruits, vegetables, others) is conveniently de-hydrated and milled. The obtained total extract is directly used for preparing lycopene based food supplements, without any modification or additivation. With respect to the known commercial food supplement, based on lycopene, such biological lycopene has unique quality features: the total extract is 100% natural; absence of chemical solvents; lycopene concentration in the final natural formula (not artificial); absence dosing problems and contra-indications. In the final product, lycopene is mixed with other natural anti-oxidants, co-extracted from the used vegetables. The boxing up of the bulk product (total extract) is made in soft or hard caps in several shapes and colors or in tablets or in other way (e.g. liquid, others).

More specifically it relates to the use of near critical fluid extraction techniques to extract lipids from liquid dairy products and dairy process streams. Preferred solvents for use in the described near critical extraction techniques are ether based solvents that are partially miscible with water. A particularly preferred solvent for use in the invention is dimethyl ether.

Es wird ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zur Extraktion eines flüchtigen Naturstoffes, beispielsweise pflanzlichen Öls, aus biologischem Material, beispielsweise aus Pflanzen, offenbart. Dazu wird das biologische Material in einen Mikrowellenraum (1) eingebracht, in dem Mikrowellenraum (1) mithilfe einer Vakuumpumpe (100) Unterdruck erzeugt und dann das Material bei konstant gehaltenem Unterdruck mit Mikrowellen bestrahlt. Durch die Bestrahlung erwärmt sich das pflanzliche Wasser in etwa bis zur Siedetemperatur. Diese ist abhängig vom Unterdruck und liegt unter 100 °C. Dies führt zum Aufbrechen der pflanzlichen Zellen, wodurch neben dem Wasserdampf auch Dämpfe des Öls entweichen. Durch die im Vergleich zu Normaldruck-Verhältnissen erniedrigte Siedetemperatur werden die Komponenten des zu extrahierenden Naturstoffs besonders geschont. Durch die Wärmeentwicklung kommt es zu einer Konvektionsbewegung, mit der die Dämpfe nach oben in einen Kondensationsraum (2) transportiert werden, wo sie kondensieren, als Tröpfchen abfließen und über einen Ablasskanal (6) einem Aufnahmegefäß (7) zugeführt werden. Das Öl reichert sich in dem Aufnahmegefäß (7) an und kann schließlich beispielsweise über ein Ablassventil (9) entnommen werden. Durch Verwendung eines hydrophoben Lösungsmittels im Aufnahmegefäß (7) läßt sich dabei auch eine wasserlösliche Komponente gewinnen.
