A forged crankshaft manufacturing apparatus processes a forged blank with no flash. The forged blank includes at least one rough crank arm having an excess portion protruding from an outer periphery of a side portion thereof. The manufacturing apparatus includes a first die (20) and a second die (30) paired with each other, a retaining device (50), and a moving device (60). The first die (20) and the second die (30) bend or crush the excess portion. The retaining device (50) retains at least one of the rough journals or at least one of the rough pins such that a rough pin decentering direction is perpendicular to a reducing direction in which the first die (20) and the second die (30) apply force for reduction. The moving device (60) supports the retaining device (50) such that the retaining device is movable in the reducing direction.

There is provided a method of manufacturing an Ni-base superalloy which enables a uniform coat of a glass lubricant to be maintained even after heated to hot forging temperature. The method of manufacturing an Ni-base superalloy in which a forging stock containing an Ni-base superalloy, coated with a lubricant, is subjected to hot forging includes: a preliminary oxidation step of previously generating a Cr oxide coating film having a film thickness of 0.5 to 50 µm on the forging stock thereby to obtain a preliminarily oxidized material; a lubricant coating step of coating the preliminarily oxidized material with a glass lubricant containing borosilicate glass as a main component thereby to obtain a material to be forged; and a hot forging step of hot forging the material to be forged thereby to obtain a hot forged material.

The forged crankshaft (1) can avoid an occurrence of machined surface cracks on the journals (J) and the crank pins (P) after the outer circumferential surface is machined.

An object is to make it possible to easily form a plate-shaped material into a closed cross-sectional structure with high precision. In a first step of press-forming, a workpiece 1 is formed into a curved shape that has curvatures in the longitudinal direction and the width direction required for a final closed cross-sectional shape. Next, in a second step, the workpiece, which has been formed in the first step, is bent in such a direction that left and right side wall portions approach each other by clamping bottom portions 2 and 3 between a punch 15 and a pad 16 in a plate-thickness direction. Next, in a third step, a pair of flange portions 7 and 8 are butted against each other while the bottom portions of the workpiece, which has been formed in the second step, are placed on a pad; and a die cavity having the same shape as the final closed cross-sectional shape is defined between a support surface of the pad supporting the bottom portion and pressing surfaces of a pair of pressure cams pressing the left and right side wall portions. Then, the pair of flange portions are depressed toward the cavity using depressing portions 31 of a second punch disposed above the pair of flange portions.
