Abstract:
A seal molding system may include a mold body having a mold inner geometry formed complementary to a fitting outer geometry of a fitting. The mold body may have a mold base formed complementary to a panel surface. The mold body may include an injection hole for injecting sealant into the mold cavity, and a vent hole for venting air and sealant from the mold cavity.
Abstract:
This invention relates generally to an apparatus for casting a portion of a tire or other article of manufacture, and, more specifically, to an apparatus that has a gate design, that has a plunging nozzle with a waste reservoir for separating off-ratio material before it enters the cavity that forms a portion of the tire or other article of manufacture. The design may further include a passage that connects the runner to the waste reservoir as well as an air vent that allows trapped gas or air to exit the waste reservoir as it fills with waste material, a valve that is operative!'/associated with the passage for closing and opening the passage at appropriate times, and a nozzle constructed from two independently translating components for initially introducing material into the waste reservoir and subsequently into the runner.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a stopper for a sprue of a casting mould, said stopper having a through-passage for introducing casting material into the sprue of the casting mould and being designed such that it automatically closes the through-passage to prevent casting material from flowing out of the casting mould, and also to a method for filling a casting mould with casting material, having the steps of: inserting such a stopper into a sprue of a casting mould and introducing casting material into the through-passage.
Abstract:
A method of forming a mold, includes: winding a tape around peripheral surfaces of a first molding die and a second molding die to assemble a mold; forming on the tape an injection port for injecting a resin material for forming a plastic lens into the mold; and forming a tab by cutting out a part of the tape non-circularly.
Abstract:
Optical-quality polarized parts and methods for manufacturing the optical parts are disclosed. The optical-quality polarized parts comprise a high impact, lightweight, high optical quality polyurethane construct (102) and a polarizer (104) bonded to the construct. The construct may be a lens substrate wherein the polarizer is integrally bonded at or near the front surface (106) of the lens substrate. A sidefill gasket may be used to support and position the polarizer within a mold cavity for reproducibly forming the optical part. The polarizer may comprise a polyethylene terephthalate film or a laminated polyvinyl alcohol film or wafer. The polarized optical part has improved impact resistance over conventional thermoset resin parts, as well as better optical properties than similarly impact-resistant polycarbonate constructs.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for the manufacture of lens molds used in the formation of optical contact lenses, the apparatus comprising a center gate aligned on the central axis of the lens mold cavity for delivery of the melt polymer in an axisymmetrical manner. The methodology produces lens molds of extremely precise dimensions as measured against lens molds produced with side gated technology.
Abstract:
A mold for skin covered foamed plastic molding capable of preventing penetration of the liquid foam resin to be poured on a skin cover without manual operation of target plate or use of double side adhesive tapes, and also capable of improving the efficiency of manufacturing process. The mold includes an element removably attached on the upper mold below the injection hole, for receiving the liquid foam resin before the liquid foam resin falls on the skin cover.
