A belt splicer includes a pair of decks, each configured to hold a belt end. At least one of the decks is movable along a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axes of the belt ends to impart a shearing force at the at least partially molten interface between the belt ends. The movement of at least one of the at least partially molten mating edges generally parallel to the interface facilitates formation of an improved joint between the belt ends.

Method for interconnecting a first and second part (10,11) of a lighting device for a vehicle by mirror welding, comprising a step of supplying said parts (10, 11) wherein each part (10, 11) comprises, in the interface area thereof for contact with the other part, a weld bead (100, 110) intended to come into contact against the weld bead of the other part during the mirror welding, characterized in that the weld bead (110) of at least one (11) of said parts (10, 11) is provided with a plurality of expander ribs (N) spread out along said weld bead (110), in such a way as to locally expand the width of the weld bead (110). Die Erfindung betrifft eine Maschine (1) zur thermischen Bearbeitung von Kunststoffwerkstücken aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff, insbesondere von Kunststoffplatten, mit einer Aufnahme für das Kunststoffwerkstück bzw. die Kunststoffwerkstücke und mit zumindest einem Heizschwert (29), welches zwischen einer Warteposition außerhalb des Bereichs der Werkstückaufnahme und einer Heizposition im Bereich der Werkstückaufnahme bewegbar geführt ist und welches zwei einander abgewandte Seitenflächen sowie eine Ober- und Unterseite aufweist, wobei im Bereich der Warteposition eine Abdeckeinrichtung (35, 36) zur Abdeckung des Heizschwertes (29) in der Warteposition vorgesehen ist, welche derart ausgestaltet ist, dass die Abdeckeinrichtung (35, 36) zwei beidseits des Heizschwertes (29) angeordnete Isolierleisten (37, 38) aufweist, die mittels eines Antriebes (39, 40) aus einer zum Heizschwert (29) beabstandeten Ausgangsposition in eine Isolierposition bewegbar sind, in der die Isolierleisten (37, 38) an den Seitenflächen des Heizschwertes (29) anliegen und dabei die Seitenflächen zumindest im Wesentlichen vollständig abdecken.

The invention relates to methods and devices for shaping plastic optical fibres(POFs), more specifically for optically modifying and yet more specifically for rapidly joining two portions of the plastic optical fibres to create a new optical connection. The plastic optical fibres (1) may be heated under controlled conditions, to soften them and lens, sensor or patterns (7) may be imprinted on portions (8) of the fibre. Methods are provide to optical joints, and combined physical and optical joints.

The invention relates to a method and a device for fusing plastic profile bars (4, 6), a stop, and a heat reflector for such a device. According to the invention, material from the profile bar or bars is displaced in the region of at least one seal provided on at least one of the plastic profile bars (4, 6), which has already been inserted by the production of the window or door frame before or while surfaces (4.1, 6.1) of the profile bars (4, 6) to be fused are pressed against one another. For this purpose, at least one displacement element (14, 24, 34) is provided that accomplishes the material displacement.
