Zum Vermeiden von Beschädigungen der Laufflächen (25) der Fahrzeugräder (4,5), welche durch die Klotzbremse (19,20) bei deren Betätigung während niedrigen Fahrgeschwindigkeiten bzw. bei stehendem Fahrzeug auftreten können, sind in die Bremsdruckleitungen (18,28,29) zu den Zuspannzylindern (21,22) der Klotzbremse (19,20) Schaltventile (30,31) eingeordnet, welche bei Unterschreiten niedriger Fahrgeschwindigkeit und bei stehendem Fahrzeug die Klotzbremse (19,20) lösen oder zumindest in ihrer Zuspannkraft reduzieren. Die Betätigung der Scheibenbremsen (8,10,12 und 9,11,13) erfolgt unbeeinflußt von den Schaltventilen (30,31).

In order to provide a safe and cost-effective device (1) for braking a vehicle using at least two braking systems, each of which comprises a friction brake that can be brought into frictional contact with a moving part of the vehicle, said friction brake being connected to a brake actuator (9) and to a spring-loaded brake cylinder (11) by way of at least one lever mechanism (15), wherein each brake actuator (9) can be operatively connected to a reserve compressed air container (4) by way of brake control means (7), it is proposed that the spring-loaded brake cylinder (11, 12) be operatively connected at least in part to a plurality of reserve compressed air containers (4, 6) by way of common spring-loaded control means (14) and a minimum pressure selection unit (15), wherein the minimum pressure selection unit (15) creates the operative connection to the reserve compressed air container (4, 6) with the lowest pressure.

The invention relates to a relay valve for airbrake systems in railway vehicles, comprising an inlet valve, an outlet valve and a piston system that is connected to the inlet and outlet valve in such a way that it opens the inlet valve when moved in a first direction and opens the outlet valve when moved in the opposite direction. The relay valve is characterised in that the piston system is comprised of the following elements on a piston rod: a first piston that is arranged in a first cylinder in such a way that the cylinder can be divided into two chambers and a second pressure chamber is also provided with a second connection for a control pressure, whereby a third chamber and a fourth chamber disposed on the other side of the piston are connected to bore holes and one of said bore holes is connected to the compressed air connection for a control pressure while the other is connected to the surrounding area; a second piston that is disposed in a second cylinder, whereby the second cylinder is divided into two chambers; a third piston arranged in a third cylinder whereby a fifth chamber disposed on one of the sides of said piston is connected to a distributing valve and the chamber located on the other side of the piston is the fourth chamber.
