The invention relates to lithium metal/porous metal oxide compositions. These lithium metal compositions are prepared by mixing liquid lithium metal with a porous metal oxide in an inert atmosphere under exothermic conditions sufficient to absorb the liquid lithium metal into the porous metal oxide pores. The lithium metal/porous metal oxide compositions of the invention are preferably loaded with lithium metal up to about 40% by weight, with about 20% to 40% by weight being the most preferred loading. The invention also relates to lithium reagent-porous metal oxide compositions having RLi absorbed into a porous oxide. The preparation and use of these compositions are also described.

The invention describes processes for the production of basic aluminum compounds, including aluminum chlorohydrate, basic zirconium compounds, and basic aluminum zirconium compounds. The process produces products of a wide range of basicities. The products formed by the present invention are comprised of low molecular weight species characteristic of enhanced efficacy antiperspirant salt compositions. The products of this process are suitable for use as water purification agents, as binders in catalyst applications, and in antiperspirant applications. In addition, the invention is directed to the products made by the disclosed process.

Disclosed herein is a method of preparing a 188 Retricarbonyl complex for radiopharmaceutical use and of preparing a precursor thereof, and a contrast agent using the same. Particularly, this invention provides a method of preparing a 188 Re-tricarbonyl precursor by reacting perrhenate with borane·ammonia (BH 3 ·NH 3 ), potassium boranocarbonate (K 2 [H 3 BCO 2 ]) and phosphate in the presence of borohydride exchange resin as a reducing agent, and a method of preparing a 188 Re-tricarbonyl complex by reacting the 188 Re-tricarbonyl precursor with a ligand. According to the method of this invention, the borohydride exchange resin is used as a reducing agent and as an anion scavenger, thereby obtaining the 188 Re-tricarbonyl precursor and complex having high radiolabeling yield and high purity. In addition, the 188 Re-tricarbonyl complex can be used as a contrast agent having excellent plasma stability.

Disclosed are enhanced efficacy aluminum-zirocnium antiperspirant salt compositions which exhiit an HPLC peak 5 area content of about 33 % or more, preferably at least 45 %, more preferably at least 50 %, most preferably at least 55 %. Especially preferred are aluminum-zirconium antiperspirant salt composition which, in addition to the aforementioned high peak 5 content, also exhibit an HPLC peak 4 to peak 3 area ratio of at least 0.4, preferably at least 0.7. The aforementioned salt compositions will preferably have a metal (Al + Zr) to chloride (or anion) ratio of about 0.90 to about 1.00. Also disclosed are methods of making such antiperspirant salt compositions and aqueous solutions of such antiperspirant sald compositions. Further disclosed are topical compositions comprising a dermatologically acceptable carrier vehicle and a perspiration reducing effective amount of an aluminium-zirconium antiperspirant salt composition as described above.
