Abstract:
The present disclosure provides fuel additives including quaternary ammonium salt additive(s) and Mannich detergent additive(s) effective to improve engine performance in both port fuel injected and gasoline direct injection engines.
Abstract:
A method of reducing deposits in a diesel engine, the method comprising combusting in the engine a diesel fuel composition comprising a detergent additive which is not a quaternary ammonium salt or a Mannich reaction product; and a quaternary ammonium salt additive comprising the reaction product of nitrogen containing species having at least one tertiary amine group and a quaternizing agent; wherein the nitrogen containing species is selected from: (i) the reaction product of a hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent and a compound comprising at least one tertiary amine group and a primary amine, secondary amine or alcohol group; (ii) a Mannich reaction product comprising a tertiary amine group; and (v) a polyalkylene substituted amine having at least one tertiary amine group.
Abstract:
A liquid fuel composition comprising: (a) a base fuel suitable for use in an internal combustion engine; (b) in the range of from 10 ppmw to 2 wt%, by weight of the liquid fuel composition, of one or more organic UV filter compounds; and (c) in the range of from 0.001 wt% to 0.5 wt%, by weight of the liquid fuel composition, of one or more ester co-additive compounds selected from esters of glycols and benzoic acid, esters of monoalcohols and benzoic acid, esters of polyalcohols and benzoic acid, esters of monoalcohols and monocarboxylic acids prepared by the reaction of a C 4 -C 18 branched or straight-chain monocarboxylic acid with a C 4 -C 18 branched or straight chain monoalcohol, and esters of monoalcohols and dicarboxylic acids prepared by the reaction of a C 4 -C 12 branched or straight chain dicarboxylic acid with a C 3 -C 18 branched or straight chain monoalcohol. The use of one or more ester co-additive compounds selected from esters of glycols and benzoic acid, esters of monoalcohols and benzoic acid, esters of polyalcohols and benzoic acid, esters of monoalcohols and monocarboxylic acids prepared by the reaction of a C 4 -C 18 branched or straight-chain monocarboxylic acid with a C 4 -C 18 branched or straight chain monoalcohol, and esters of monoalcohols and dicarboxylic acids prepared by the reaction of a C 4 -C 12 branched or straight chain dicarboxylic acid with a C 3 -C 18 branched or straight chain monoalcohol, to increase the solubility, in particular at temperatures of 5°C or lower, of one or more organic UV filter compounds, in a liquid fuel composition.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a liquid crude hydrocarbon composition containing (a) a liquid crude hydrocarbon having an API gravity of less than or equal to about 20; and (b) a minor amount of a blend comprising (i) one or more hydrocarbon-containing solvents having an aromatic content of at least about 10 wt. %; and (ii) one or more asphaltene modifiers selected from the group consisting of an aromatic sulfonic acid or salt thereof, an aliphatic sulfonic acid or salt thereof and an alkyl-substituted hydroxyaromatic carboxylic acid or salt thereof. Also disclosed is a method for transporting a liquid crude hydrocarbon having an API gravity of less than or equal to about 20.
