Die Erfindung betrifft eine Übertragungsanordnung für einen mechanisch steuerbaren Ventiltrieb (2), die ein Übertragungsglied (13) aufweist, das derart ausgeführt ist, dass es direkt oder indirekt über Koppelmittel (6. 14, 16, 18) mit zumindest einem Gaswechselventil (4) in Wirkverbindung steht und das im Zylinderkopf mittels Lagermittel (22) beweglich gelagert ist, wobei das Übertragungsglied (13) desweiteren mit einer Nockenwelle (8) und einer Ventilhubverstelleinrichtung (25) in Wirkverbindung steht, derart, dass zumindest verschiedene Maximalhübe des Gaswechselventils (4) einstellbar sind, wobei die Ventilhubverstelleinrichtung (25) in dem Übertragungsglied (13) der Übertragungsanordnung (12) integriert ist.

A follower mechanism movable along an axis within a bore including an alignment groove. The follower mechanism includes a bucket with a cylindrical inner surface and a cylindrical outer surface, and a yoke positioned at least partially within the bucket, the yoke including a bottom wall and two opposed sidewalls depending upwardly therefrom, each sidewall defining a shaft aperture. A shaft with first and second ends is received in the shaft apertures, and a roller follower is rotatably received on the shaft such that a portion of the roller follower extends axially outwardly beyond the bucket.

A valve-operating lever comprising a valve arm (60) including a first aperture (105) defining a valve arm engagement portion. The lever also includes a connector member (55) having an outside surface and a first stop (80, 90). The connector member (55) and the first stop cooperate to define a first engagement portion. A first portion of the connector member (55) overlays a portion of the valve arm (60) adjacent the first aperture, and the valve arm engagement portion engages the first engagement portion.

An actuator is connected to one of components forming a power transmitting device capable of transmitting a power provided by a valve operating cam provided on a cam shaft, so that the actuator can drive an engine valve in a lift amount which is obtained by addition of a lift amount of the engine valve based on a cam profile of the valve operating cam and a lift amount of the engine valve based on the operation of the actuator. Thus, a portion of the lift amount of the engine valve is borne by the valve operating cam, whereby a valve-opening power borne by the actuator can be reduced, as compared with a system designed so that the engine valve is driven by only the actuator only. The amount of electric power consumed by the actuator can be smaller.

Durch die Trennung verschiedener Abgasstränge in einer Verbrennungskraftmaschine ist es notwendig geworden, mehrere Abgasrückführventile einzusetzen, die jeweils über einen eigenen Antrieb verfügen. Mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Gegenstand ist ein Ventilsystem geschaffen worden, welches mehrere Ventile über eine Antriebseinheit antreibt und somit geringere Kosten durch Reduzierung der Anzahl der Bauteile und des Montageaufwands entstehen. Dies wird dadurch erreicht, daß eine Kupplungseinheit, die eine Antriebseinheit mit den verschiedenen Ventilstangen verbindet.

An actuator is connected to one of components forming a power transmitting device capable of transmitting a power provided by a valve operating cam (29I,29E) provided on a cam shaft (28), so that the actuator (51 1 ,51 2 ) can drive an engine valve in a lift amount which is obtained by addition of a lift amount of the engine valve based on a cam profile of the valve operating cam and a lift amount of the engine valve based on the operation of the actuator. Thus, a portion of the lift amount of the engine valve is borne by the valve operating cam, whereby a valve-opening power borne by the actuator can be reduced, as compared with a system designed so that the engine valve is driven by only the actuator only. The amount of electric power consumed by the actuator can be smaller.

A guide plate (10) for a valve actuation mechanism (14), the guide plate (10) having a slot or profiled surface defining a valve actuating portion and a non valve actuating portion. A valve actuating member such as a pin (50, 51), moves along the slot (12) or profiled surface in a cyclic fashion, wherein the pin (50, 51) is connected to a valve so that when the pin (50, 51) moves along the valve actuating portion (17), the valve is actuated, and when the pin moves along the non valve actuating portion (15), the valve is not actuated. The non-valve actuating portion (15) of the slot (12) or profiled surface is of sufficient length such that the entire range of cyclic motion of the pin (50, 51) is able to be contained within the non-valve actuating portion (15). To move the range of cyclic motion from one section of the guide path (12) to another, the guide plate (10) may be moved relative to the pin (50, 51). Said arrangement allows a valve to be selectively operated or deactivated without changing the cyclic motion of the pin (50, 51), but by merely moving the guide plate (10).

An internal combustion engine (10) includes a housing (12) with a plurality of combustion cylinders (20). At least one of the combustion cylinders (20) has a longitudinal axis (28, 30) which is disposed at an acute angle (α) relative to a longitudinal axis (28, 30) of at least one other combustion cylinder (20). A camshaft (14) is rotatably carried by the housing (12) and includes a plurality of cams (34, 36, 38). A plurality of lever lifter assemblies (16) are associated with respective ones of the combustion cylinders (20). Each lever lifter assembly (16) includes an intake lever lifter (40), an exhaust lever lifter (44) and a fuel injector lever lifter (42). Each intake lever lifter (40), exhaust lever lifter (44) and fuel injector lever lifter (42) has a roller follower (46) engaging a respective cam (34, 36, 38). A pivot shaft (18) carried by the housing (12) pivotally carries at least one lever lifter assembly (16) associated with the at least one combustion cylinder (20) and also pivotally carries at least one lever lifter assembly (16) associated with the at least one other combustion cylinder (20, 22).
