摘要: In a spherical annular seal member 38, a spherical annular base member 36 is constructed so as to be provided with structural integrity as a heat-resistant material 6 and a reinforcing member 5 are compressed to each other and intertwined with each other. In an outer layer 37, the heat-resistant material 6, a sintered solid lubricant constituted by a lubricating composition, and the reinforcing member 5 made from a metal wire net are compressed such that the sintered solid lubricant and the heat-resistant material 6 are filled in meshes of the metal wire net of the reinforcing member 5, and the solid lubricant, the heat-resistant material 6, and the reinforcing member 5 are integrated in mixed form, an outer surface 39 of that outer layer 37 being thus formed into a smooth surface 42 in which a surface 40 constituted by the reinforcing member 5 and a surface 41 constituted by the sintered solid lubricant are present in mixed form.

摘要: An elastomeric seal (20), such as a shaft seal for automotive vehicle applications, includes an elastomeric compound (22) chemically coupled to a metal sealing ring (24) and is formed without an oven post curing step. The elastomeric seal (20) provides exceptional physical properties, similar to those of elastomeric seals of the prior art formed with an oven post curing step. The elastomeric seal (20) has an elastic modulus of 6.0 MPa to 13.0 MPa and a tensile strength of 11.1 MPa to 14.8 MPa. The elastomeric compound (22) includes 52.0 to 68.0 wt. % fluoroelastomer, 20.0 to 35.0 wt. % calcium silicate, and 5.0 to 15.0 wt. % diatomite. The elastomeric compound (22) is fully cured and chemically coupled to the metal sealing ring (24) during the compression or injection molding step, and thus an oven post curing step is not required.

摘要: A gasket in which a high sealing property can be certainly ensured is provided. A gasket 1 is to be interposed between a first flange 21 of a first exhaust pipe 11 and a second flange 22 of a second exhaust pipe 12 in a state where the gasket is fitted onto an end portion of the first exhaust pipe, in order to seal a gap between end portions of the first and second exhaust pipes 11, 12. The gasket 1 includes a first sealing portion 51 and a second sealing portion 52. The first sealing portion has a first butting surface 51a having a tapered shape corresponding to a tapered shape of a first tapered inner circumferential surface 27a of the first flange, and a first projecting portion 51b. The first sealing portion is formed in a radially outer side of the gasket. The second sealing portion has a second butting surface 52a having a tapered shape corresponding to a tapered shape of a second tapered inner circumferential surface of the second flange, and a second projecting portion 52b. The second sealing portion is formed in a radially outer side of the gasket.

摘要: A gasket for compressible placement between a first surface and a second surface is disclosed. In one embodiment, the gasket has a cellular metal skeleton embedded in a viscoelastic, pliable, deformable tacky polymer body. The skeleton has multiple strands, which connect to form multiple interconnected cells or pores. The skeleton, prior to being encapsulated in the tacky polymer body, is typically about 75% or more void space. The void space is substantially filled in the manufacture of the gasket, with the tacky uncured polymer. The uncured polymer will set up or cure, and then the gasket may be used.
