摘要: An air conditioner has a first foam insulation member (70) disposed on a side of an outlet passage formation portion and a first drain pan opposite from cold air or a heat exchanger, adjacent to which the outlet passage formation portion and first drain pan are disposed. The first foam insulation member (70) has a hardened layer (70b, 70c) made of a material identical to a material of a foam insulation member body (70a) at a portion contacting the outlet passage formation portion and a portion contacting the first drain pan. The present invention thereby provides an air conditioner capable of reducing squeaks at low cost with a simple configuration.

摘要: A method of preventing siphoning of a liquid through a pump 23 having an inlet and an outlet, the outlet being coupled to a discharge line 24 having an air inlet valve 10 that admits air to prevent a body of water to build up and cause the liquid to siphon from the discharge line back through the pump. The liquid may be condensate collected from a condenser 20 of an air conditioning installation, of particular benefit for use with piston pumps, which may be used in coffee machines. The admission of air through the valve does not allow a body of liquid build up downstream of the valve such that there is an inadequate weight of liquid to cause siphoning from the discharge line upstream of the pump. Therefore, the pump always contains liquid and prevents it from running in the dry state. Also claimed is an air inlet valve (fig 4) which may be a non-return or one way duck bill valve (33) made of an elastomeric material.

A passage (60) through which a flexible long body for maintaining the air conditioner (A) is inserted from the exterior to the vicinity of a bottom part of the drain pan (40) is further provided. The passage (60) only includes one, two or more of a straight part, an obtuse bent part and a curved part. The passage (60) has a high level passage part (61) placed at a higher position than a suction port (51) of the drain pump (50).

摘要: A frost protection system is described for a condensate drain pipe (10) for a boiler, air-conditioning unit etc to protect an outdoors run of the pipe. The system comprises an outdoors temperature sensor (24), a heater (40), and a controller (18) for activating the heater in dependence upon the temperature sensed by the sensor. The heater is in the form of a flexible line (for example an electrical cable with a resistive filament). The heater (or a connection for it) passes through a fitting (38) in the pipe indoors, and the heater extends along the inside of the outdoors run of the pipe. In cold weather, the controller activates the heater to produce heat inside the drain pipe and thus reduce the risk of the condensate freezing.
