Abstract:
A wireless communications network comprises a server in a central location storing matching profiles for a plurality of users of the network. The matching profile for each user is stored in the server through the user's mobile unit or a secure page on the Internet. Each matching profile is corresponded with a respective mobile unit using the same identification information (ID) of the respective mobile unit utilized for carrying out phone calls. The server has a customizable variable matching algorithm and probes the matching profiles corresponding to the respective mobile units in a cell or group of cells for a match every time a new mobile unit subscribes into the cell or group of cells. When there is a match of matching profiles, the two persons are put in contact or advised of each other through a phone call or other communications method.
Abstract:
An invention relates to a device enabling face-to-face contacts between persons immediately or almost immediately when their profiles match, i.e. when the persons have similar requirements or interests. The device may be an accessory of a mobile phone and it comprises a power source such as a battery or an accumulator. The device further comprises a first radio and a second radio that use different types of wireless short-range radio technologies. The first radio is adapted to communicate with a terminal of a mobile communication network by receiving content for a profile of a user. This profile relates to a certain contact service and the content of the profile is created by means of the terminal. The second radio is adapted to communicate with another device by transmitting the profile from the device to the other device. The second radio is further adapted to communicate by receiving a message of the contact service when the transmitted profile matches with a profile of another user. In addition to the device, the invention comprises a network of above-described devices.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for finding a match between or among persons (17a, 17b), characteristics and/or objects are disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention, an electronic device (10a, 10b), such as a handheld radio, is used to find a person who meets criteria specified by a user. In another embodiment, this electronic device (10a, 10b) is programmed with information regarding the biological or genetic attributes (33) of individuals.
Abstract:
A method of providing content to a recipient is disclosed, the method comprising creating a secure container (2512), assigning a potential user or recipient to a class, the class having been defined at least in part on the basis of usage information, associating a first rule with the secure container (2512), the first rule being operable to, at least in part, govern use of at least some content of the secure container (2512), the first rule, at least in part, specifying potential users or recipients of the at least some content of the secure container (2512) based at least in part on membership in one or more classes, and sending the secure container (2512) to a content source (2074). The content source is operable to embed a content object (2003) into the secure container (2512) and send the secure container (2074) to a subscriber appliance (2052) associated with the potential user or recipient. The subscriber appliance (2052) is operable to make at least some of the content object (2003) available to the potential user or recipient as a function, at least in part, of a digital certificate and the first rule.
Abstract:
Rights management information is used at least in part in a matching, narrowcasting, classifying and/or selecting process. A matching and classification utility system comprising a kind of Commerce Utility System is used to perform the matching, narrowcasting, classifying and/or selecting. The matching and classification utility system may match, narrowcast, classify and/or select people and/or things, nonlimiting examples of which include software objects. The Matching and Classification Utility system may use any pre-existing classification schemes, including at least some rights management information and/or other qualitative and/or parameter data indicating and/or defining classes, classification systems, class hierarchies, category schemes, class assignments, category assignments, and/or class membership. The Matching and Classification Utility may also use at least some rights management information together with any artificial intelligence, expert system, statistical, computational, manual, or any other means to define new classes, class hierarchies, classification systems, category schemes, and/or assign persons, things, and/or groups of persons and/or things to at least one class.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for performing an instant messenger function using a local area network (LAN) is provided whereby a first portable terminal and second portable terminals perform an instant messenger function via short-range communication. The first portable terminal and the second portable terminals respectively store user information and exchange the stored user information to establish themselves as messenger objects. The first portable terminal searches the second portable terminals of the messenger objects located within its short-range communication area obtains user information of the searched second portable terminals of messenger objects and updates the user information. The searched second portable terminals of the messenger objects are displayed as being active to allow a user to check the searched messenger objects and to perform an instant messenger function.
Abstract:
A server device for net game is provided with a party organizing section 101 for organizing a plurality of members participating in a virtual party, a question preparing section 102 for preparing a specified number of questions to be presented to organized mobile communication terminals, a matching section 104 for selecting two members from those participating in the party based on answers to the prepared questions and a congeniality evaluation parameter value, a question drafting section 105 for letting the selected two members to draft a specified number of questions and possible answers corresponding to the questions, an access setting section 106 for enabling an access time and an imaginary access place to be set based on answers to the drafted questions and the congeniality evaluation parameter value, and an access judging section 107 for judging whether the two selected members have accessed at the set time and imaginary place and giving mailboxes.
Abstract:
A system for matching information comprises a first sub-system adapted to store at least one profile, wherein the said at least one profile contains predetermined attributes and requirements and predetermined introduction information; and a second sub-system adapted to store at least one profile, wherein the said at least one profile contains predetermined attributes and requirements and predetermined introduction information. An introduction processor is adapted to receive data relating to the said introduction information from the said first sub-system, and to compare the said introduction information from the said first sub-system with introduction information received from the said second sub-system and to register a compatible profile introduction between the said first sub-system and the said second sub-system when the said introduction information of the said first sub-system or the said second sub-system is satisfied by the introduction information of the other of the said first sub-system or the said second subsystem. A match processor comprised within the said first sub-system is adapted to receive information relating to requirements of the said second sub-system when the said introduction processor registers a compatible profile introduction between the said first sub-system and the said second sub-system. The said match processor registers a match between the said first sub-system and the said second sub-system when the said attributes of the said first sub-system match the said requirements of the said second sub-system. in order to register a match with the said second sub-system the said first sub-system does not need to receive information relating to the said attributes of the said second sub-system.
Abstract:
Described is a way for computing proximity (location-based proximity or preference-based proximity) between mobile wireless subscribers (who use different services) without either divulging their location/preference to the other (preservation of privacy). Privacy is kept by providing location/preference information in steps, along with an evaluation function. The services receive partial results and then locally compute the final result, or proximity. The term proximity includes not just physical proximity but also multi-dimensional data such as preference profiles and vectors (e.g., an affinity for baseball, apple pie, and ballroom dancing.).
