A method of repairing a divertor or first wall surface in a tokamak. The tokamak comprises a vacuum chamber having a port; a vacuum maintenance system configured to maintain a pressure of less than 25 mbar within the vacuum chamber; a first wall and a divertor, each having a surface comprising a refractory metal having a melting point above 2000°C. The vacuum maintenance system maintains a pressure of less than 25 mbar within the vacuum chamber following suspension of operation of the tokamak. The refractory metal is deposited onto the divertor or first wall surface via a deposition process comprising providing one or more reagents to the chamber in gaseous or plasma form via the port, the reagents being capable of reacting chemically to form the refractory metal and a gaseous by-product; and heating the divertor or first wall surface to a temperature sufficient to cause the reagents provided to the chamber to react therein to form the refractory metal and the gaseous by-product. The vacuum maintenance system removes the gaseous by-product and any excess reagent from the chamber after deposition of the refractory metal.

In one embodiment, a fusion reactor includes two internal magnetic coils suspended within an enclosure, a center magnetic coil coaxial with the two internal magnetic coils and located proximate to a midpoint of the enclosure, a plurality of encapsulating magnetic coils coaxial with the internal magnetic coils, and two mirror magnetic coil coaxial with the internal magnetic coils. The fusion reactor further includes one or more heat injectors operable to inject a beam of neutral particles toward the center of the enclosure.

A method, system, and apparatus are disclosed for a complex shape structure for liquid lithium first walls of fusion power reactor environments. In particular, the method involves installing at least one tile on the surface area of the internal walls of the reactor chamber. The tile(s) is manufactured from a high-temperature resistant, porous open-cell material. The method further involves flowing liquid lithium into the tile(s). Further, the method involves circulating the liquid lithium throughout the interior network of the tile(s) to allow for the liquid lithium to reach the external surface of the tile(s) that faces the interior of the reactor chamber. In addition, the method involves outputting the circulated liquid lithium from the tile(s). In one or more embodiments, the reactor chamber is employed in a fusion reactor. In some embodiments, the tile is manufactured from a ceramic material or a metallic foam.

A fusion chamber is disclosed which is divided into separate segments which when fitted together form the fusion chamber. Each segment includes a set of tubes arranged in parallel across a front wall of the segment with each tube extending between plenums behind the front wall. Fluid coolant is pumped through the tubing and through a blanket behind the set of tubes to cool the segment.
